Of the Mechanicall Origine or Production of HEAT.
After having dispatched the Instances I had to offer of the Production of Cold, it remains that I also propose some Experiments of Heat, which Quality will appear the more likely to be Mechanically producible, if we consider the nature of it, which seems to consist mainly, if not onely, in that Mechanical affection of matter we call Local motion mechanically modified, which modification, as far as I have observed, is made up of three Conditions.
