Snails and Turtles
Snails and Turtles are such queer creatures.
They both carry their homes right upon their backs.
We wouldn't think this was any fun at all, cause lots of times we like to run and race and play ball and do a lot of things which we could not do if we had a house on our backs.
After all, I ’spect it is ever so much more fun being a boy or a girl and living in the same house with those we love and who love us. And I know that you will say, “Yes! That is true! It is lots more fun.”
Snails and Turtles may think their houses are much nicer than ours, but if they do, it’s because they have never known any other—or had the fun of coming home.
