Does this apply to wikisource users, whilst translating works of others, who inherently already agree on such releases of IP as they contribute, as with any work in any wikimedia site? I'm seeing a few users use this to "release" such non IP work, and this page really does not clarify to which works it applies. RustyRapier (talk) 14:27, 3 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

As it says, it's only usable "the copyright holder of this work". Anything published in wikisource, except files, is irrevocably released under the CC BY-SA 4.0 License and GFDL.
{{PD-self}} is only for files, made by users, and that they themselves release (which are quite rare, none at present).
Original translations should be in translation namespace, in which {{translation license}} automatically uses {{GFDL/CC-BY-SA-4.0}}. — Alien  3
