Chap. LXXXIII.—An Act for the relief of Thomas Sprigg.
Claim for destruction of ropewalk, &c. to be settled.Be it enacted, &c., That the proper accounting officers of the navy department be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to audit and settle the claim of Thomas Sprigg, on account of the destruction of a quantity of hempen yarns, in the ropewalk, in the vicinity of Baltimore, which were destroyed by order of General Foreman, by ascertaining, or causing to be ascertained, the value of the yarns, in such manner and upon such terms as may be just and reasonable.
Appropriation.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the amount of the said valuation, when ascertained as aforesaid, shall be paid to the said Thomas Sprigg, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
