United States Supreme Court

30 U.S. 390

Shankland  v.  Washington

THIS case was brought up by writ of error to the circuit court of the county of Washington, in the district of Columbia, and after argument, at January term 1830, was held under advisement until this term.

The facts of the case, with the exception of those stated more particularly in the opinion of the court, in this case, are the same with those of the case of Clark against the Corporation of Washington, reported in 12 Wheat. 40.

The case was argued by Mr Wirt and Mr Swann for the plaintiff; and by Mr Jones and Mr Key for the defendants.

Mr Justice STORY delivered the opinion of the Court.
