61.APRIL

Wav'ring remembrance of bright, far-off daysAnd spring scents moves me, like the fading faceOf buried beauty that with tears I traceIn baby features and their blue-eyed gaze.
Up from the past in flames of memory startPassion-sweet midnights in the vanished years,When mellow moonlight music filled our earsAnd golden hair lay soft against my heart.
This is the message that this April mornHas breathed upon me with the breath of springFrom far, familiar gardens, till forlorn
I falter as the shadows come acrossThat fugitive delight, and backward bringThe eternal poignancy of love and loss.

From the Catalan of Miquel S. Oliver.
