Chapter 1

¹ These are the names of Israel's sons who came to Egypt with Jacob, each came with his household: ² Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; ³ Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; ⁴ Dan and Naphthali, Gad and Asher. ⁵ And all the persons coming from Jacob's loins were seventy souls, and Joseph was in Egypt. ⁶ And Joseph and all his brothers died, and all that generation.

⁷ And Israel's sons bore fruit and teemed and multiplied and strengthened very very much, so the land filled with them. ⁸ And a new king took over Egypt who did not know of Joseph. ⁹ And he said to his people: "See here, the Israelite nation is more numerous and stronger than we are. ¹⁰ Let us wise up to them, lest they multiply, and if war happens, they will join our detesters and fight us, and go up from the land."

¹¹ So they put upon them taskmasters, to agonize them in toil. And they built storehouse cities for Pharoah: Pithom and Ra'amses. ¹² But the more they oppressed them, the more they multiplied and burst forth, so they were fed up with Israelites.

¹³ And the Egyptians put the sons of Israel to work in backbreaking labor. ¹⁴ And they embittered their lives with hard work, in clay and bricks, and all manner of fieldwork, in all the backbreaking labor to which they put them.

¹⁵ And the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew's midwifes, one of whose names is Shiphrah, and the second Puah. ¹⁶ And he said, "When you deliver for the Hebrews, and see them upon the paired rocks^[1], if it's a son, then you kill him, and if it's a daughter, she lives." ¹⁷ But the midwives feared God^[2], and did not do that which the king of Egypt commanded, and they let live the boys born.

¹⁸ And the king of Egypt summoned the midwives, and told them "Why did you do this thing, and let live the boys born?"

¹⁹ And the midwives told Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptians, but they are animals!^[3] Before the midwife even arrives, they've delivered." ²⁰ So God treated the midwives well, and the nation multiplied and became mightier. ²¹ And it was because the midwives feared God that he made households for them.

²² And Pharoah commanded to all his nation, saying "Every son that is born, throw him in the Nile. And all the daughters let live."

Chapter 2

¹ And a man from the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi. ² And the woman conceived, and bore a son, and she saw him, that he was good, and hid him away three months. ³ She could no longer hide him away, so she took an ark of bulrushes, and smeared it in clay and pitch, and she put the boy in it, and put it in the reeds on the banks of the Nile. ⁴ And she posted his sister from a distance to know what would be done to him.

⁵ And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash on the Nile, and her girls are walking by the Nile, and she saw the ark in the reeds, and she sent her maid and took it. ⁶ And she uncovered and saw him, the boy, and here is a crying boy, and she pitied him and said, "This boy is one of the Hebrews." ⁷

And his sister said to the daughter of Pharaoh, "Shall I go and call you a wetnurse from the Hebrew women, so she will nurse the child for you?" ⁸ And the daughter of Pharaoh said to her "Go", and she went away and called the mother of the child. ⁹ And the daughter of the Pharaoh said to her, "Take away this boy and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wage," and the woman took the boy away and nursed him.

¹⁰ And the boy grew, and they brought him to the daughter of pharaoh, and he was to her as a son; and she gave him his name, Moshe(Moses), and said, "Because I have drawn him(Mashitehu) from the water."^[4]

¹¹ And in those days, Moses grew and went to his brothers, and saw their suffering. And he saw an Egyptian man striking a Hebrew man among his brothers. ¹² And he turned this way and that, and he saw that there is nobody, and he struck the Egyptian and buried him in the sand. ¹³ And he came out on the second day, and here two Hebrew men are fighting, and said to the wicked one, "Why do you strike your brother?" ¹⁴ And he said "Who put you over us as a judge and minister man--- why, are you setting to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?" And Moses feared and said "In fact the thing has become known."

¹⁵ And Pharaoh heard this thing, and asked to kill Moses; and Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and settled in the land of Midyan(Mideon), and sat on the well. ¹⁶ And to a priest of Mideon were seven daughters, and they came and they drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's sheep. ¹⁷ And the shepherds came and scattered them aside, and Moses stood up and aided them, and watered their sheep.

¹⁸ And they came to Re'uel their father, and he said "Why now did you hurry to come today?" ¹⁹ And they said "An Egyptian man saved us from the hands of the shepherds, and also drew and drew water for us, and watered the sheep."

²⁰ And he said to his daughters "And where? Why then did you leave the man? Call him so he will eat bread." ²¹ And it agreed with Moses to settle with the man; and he gave Moses Tziporah his daughter. ²² And she bore a son, and he called him Gershom(Alien-there): because he said "I'm alien(Ger) in a foreign land."^[5]

²³ And in those many days, the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites sighed from the work, and shouted out, and their petition came up to God, from the work. ²⁴ And God heard their pleading, and God was reminded of his pact, of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob. ²⁵ And God saw the Israelites, and God knew.

Chapter 3

¹ And Moses herded Jethro's sheep, his father in law, Midian's priest. And he drove the sheep past the wilderness, and he came to God's mountain, to Horeb. ² And an angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame of fire from the bush, and here the bush is burning with fire, but the bush is not consumed. ³ And Moses said, "I will veer off now and see this great sight. Why is the bush not consumed?"

⁴ And Yahweh saw that he veered off to see, so God called him from inside the bush, and said "Moses, Moses."

And he said "Here I am".

⁵ And he said "Do not come closer yet, shed your shoes from your feet, because the place upon which you stand, it is sacred ground."

⁶ And he said "I am your ancestors' God, Abraham's god, Isaac's God, and Jacob's God." And Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

⁷ And Yahweh said, "I have seen the sight of my people's agony in Egypt. And I heard their shout against their bosses, because I knew her pains. ⁸ And I will come down to save her from the hand of the Egyptians, and to raise her from that land to a land good and broad, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Emorite, and the Prizite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. ⁹ And now, here the shout of the sons of Israel comes to me, and I have also seen the pressure with which the Egyptians press upon them. ¹⁰ And now go, and I will send you to Pharaoh, and take my people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt."

¹¹ And Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I go to Pharaoh and that I will take out the sons of Israel from Egypt?"

¹² And he said "Because I will be with you, and this will be the sign for you that I have sent you. In taking out the people from Egypt, you shall worship God on this mountain."

¹³ And Moses said to God, "Here I come to the sons of Israel, and I told them, the God of your fathers sent me to you, and they said to me, what is his name?, what will I tell them?"

¹⁴ And God said to Moses "I'll be what I'll be", and he said "Thus you will say to the sons of Israel, 'I'll be' sent me to you."

¹⁵ And god further said to Moses:

Thus you will say to the sons of Israel, Yahweh, your ancestors' God, Abraham's God, Isaac's God, and Jacob's God, sent me to you. That is my eternal name, and that is my memory from generation to generation."

¹⁶ Go and gather the elders of Israel, and say to them, "Yahweh, your ancestors' God, appeared to me; Abraham, Isaac and Jacob's God, saying "I have commanded you a command; and those you had in Egypt." ¹⁷ And say, "'I will raise you from the wretchedness of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Prizite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.'" ¹⁸

And they'll listen to you. So you go with the elders of Israel to the king of Egypt and you say to him, "Yahweh, the Hebrews' God has called us, and now please we will walk a three day journey in the desert, and sacrifice to Yahweh our God."

¹⁹ And I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go, if not for a strong arm. ²⁰ And I'll send my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders which I will make within it. And afterwards, he will set you free. ²¹ And I'll show this people's value to Egyptian eyes, and when it is that you shall go, you will not go empty-handed. ²² And a woman will ask her neighbor and her household women for silverware and gold-wares and robes. And you'll put it upon your sons and your daughters, and you'll exploit Egypt.

Chapter 4

¹ And Moses answered and said "And they won't believe me, and won't listen to me: for they'll say, 'Yahweh did not appear to you'."

² And Yahweh said to him, "What is that in your hands?"

And he said "A staff".

³ And he said "Cast it to the ground"

And he cast it to the ground and it became a snake. And Moses fled from its presence.

⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses: "send out your hand and grasp its tail."

And he sent out his hand and grabbed it, and it became a staff in his palm.

⁵ "So that they will believe that Yahweh, their ancestors' God, appeared to you. Abraham's God, Isaac's God, and Jacob's God."

⁶ And Yahweh further said to him, "Please fold your hand onto your chest."

And he folded his hand to his chest, and took it out, and here was his hand, as leprous as snow.^[6]

⁷ And he said "Refold your hand to your chest." So he refolded his hand to his chest, and removed it from his chest, and here, it had returned to his flesh.

⁸ "And so, if they won't believe you, and won't pay attention to the first sign, then they'll believe the last sign."

⁹ "And it'll be, if they also won't believe these two signs, and won't listen to you, then take from the waters of the Nile, and pour it on land. And the waters which you take from the Nile will become blood on the land."

¹⁰ And Moses said to Yahweh. "In me, Yahweh, I'm not a man of words, not yesterday, nor the day before, and neither since you've spoken to your servant. Because I'm leaden of mouth and tongue."^[7]

¹¹ And Yahweh said to him, "Who puts the mouth on a man? Or who makes the dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Why it is me, Yahweh! ¹² And now, go. And I will be at your mouth, and I will instruct you what you will say."

¹³ And he said "In me, Yahweh please send me in the hand you send."^[7]

¹⁴ And the Lord snarled in fury at Moses, and said, "Is not Aaron your Levite brother? I know that he speaks speeches, and also, there he is, come out towards you, and he sees you and his heart is happy. ¹⁵ And you'll speak to him, and you'll put the words in his mouth, and I myself will be at your mouth, and at his mouth, and I'll instruct you two on that which you'll do. ¹⁶ And he will speak to the people for you, and it'll be that he'll be like your mouth, and you'll be like his God. ¹⁷ And this staff, take it in your hands, that you'll do the signs with."

¹⁸ And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said to him "Please, I will go and return to my brothers in Egypt, and see if they are still alive."

And Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."

¹⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, "Go. Return to Egypt. Because all the people asking for your life have died."

²⁰ So Moses took his wife, and his sons, and mounted them on the donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand.^[8]

²¹ And Yahweh said to Moses, "On your walk to return to Egypt, see all the wonders that I have placed in your hands, and do them before Pharaoh. But I will harden his heart, and he will not send the people off."

²² And you'll say to Pharaoh: "Thus said Yahweh: 'My firstborn son is Israel'. ²³ And he says to you, 'send my son, and he will serve me. And if you keep from sending him, then here: I will kill your firstborn son.'"

²⁴ And it was on the way, in a lodging, and Yahweh met him, and sought to put him to death. ²⁵ And Zipporah took a flint, and cut off her son's foreskin, and touched it to his feet, and said, "for a blood groom you are to me".

²⁶ And he backed off him, then she said "blood groom", for the circumcision.^[9]

²⁷ And Yahweh said to Aaron, "Go towards Moses into the wilderness." So he went, and he met him on God's mountain, and kissed him. ²⁸ And Moses told Aaron all the Yahweh's words which directed him, and all the signs which he had commanded him for.

²⁹ And Moses and Aaron went and gathered all the Israelite elders. ³⁰ And Aaron spoke all the words that Yahweh had spoken to Moses, and he performed the signs in front of the people's eyes. ³¹ And the people believed, and heard that Yahweh had delegated the Israelites, and that he had seen their agony. And they bowed their heads, and prostrated themselves.

Chapter 5

¹ And afterwards, Moses and Aaron came and said to Pharaoh: "Thus said Yahweh, Israel's God: Send my people off, and they will celebrate me in the wilderness."

² And Pharaoh said: "Who's Yahweh, that I should listen to him to send Israel? I don't know this Yahweh, and also I won't send Israel off."

³ And they said: "The Hebrew's God has been called to us. We will please go a three day's journey in the wilderness and sacrifice to our God Yahweh, lest he touch us with plague or the sword."

⁴ And the king of Egypt said to them "Why, Moses and Aaron, will you disturb the people from its doings? Go do your work." ⁵ And Pharaoh said: "They are many now, the people of the land. And you would have them break from their labor?"

⁶ And Pharaoh commanded on that day, of the people's bosses, and his officers, saying:

⁷ You shan't continue to give straw to the people, to form the bricks, like yesterday and the day before. They will go and cut down the straw themselves. ⁸ And the quota of bricks which they filled yesterday, day before, you will impose upon them — you won't subtract from it. Because they are idle. That's why they shout out saying: "We'll go sacrifice to our God." ⁹ The work will become heavier on the people, and they'll do it, so they won't be swayed by lying words.

¹⁰ And the people's bosses and his officers went to the people saying: "Thus said Pharoah: I am not giving you straw! ¹¹ Go and take straw for yourselves from what you'll find: because not a thing is subtracted from your work."

¹² And the people spread out over the entire land of Egypt, to cut down dried grass for straw. ¹³ And the bosses were quick to say: "Finish your tasks each day the day's, as when there was straw."

¹⁴ And the officers struck the Israelites that the bosses of Pharaoh were placed over, saying "Why did you not fill your quota of bricks, as yesterday and the day before? As yesterday, so today!"

¹⁵ And the Israelites' officers came and cried out to Pharaoh, saying "Why are you doing this to your servants? ¹⁶ Straw isn't given to your servants, and they tell us to make bricks. And here: your servants are struck! So you have sinned to your people."

¹⁷ And he said: "Idle! you are idle! This is why you say let us go sacrifice to Yahweh. ¹⁸ And now go and work. and straw won't be given to you, and you'll make your fill of bricks."

¹⁹ The the officers of the sons of Israel saw them in bad faith to say: "you will not subtract from your bricks, that said from day to day." ²⁰ And they confronted Moses and Aaron posted facing them, as they came out from Pharaoh's. ²¹ And they said to them "Yahweh upon you will see and judge: that you have made a stink of us in Pharaoh's eyes, and in his servants eyes, to give a sword to them, to kill us."

²² And Moses returned to Yahweh, and said: "My lord, why have you made it worse for this people? Why did you send me on this? ²³ Ever since I've come to Pharaoh, to speak in your name, it has worsened for this people. And save? You didn't save your people."

Chapter 6

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Now you'll see what I will do to Pharaoh. Because I will send you off with a strong arm, and with a strong arm I'll evict them from his land."

² And God spoke to Moses and said to him

I am Yahweh. ³ And I showed to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as El-Shaddai, and by my name, 'Yahweh', I did not make myself known to them.^[10]

⁴ And still I raised my covenant with them, to give them Canaan's land — the land of their wandering, which they dwelt alien in. ⁵ And I myself have heard the moan of the sons of Israel, them the Egyptians enslave, and I remembered my pact.

⁶ And So I said to the sons of Israel, "I am Yahweh, and I would take you out from the toil of Egypt, and I'll rescue you from your labor. And I'll liberate you with arm crooked and in great judgments. ⁷ And I'll take you for me as people, and I'll be God for you. And you'll know that I am your God Yahweh, who removed the toils of Egypt from you. ⁸ And I'll bring you to the land that I lifted my hand to give to Abraham and Isaac and to Jacob, and I'll give it to you as an inheritance, I Yahweh."

⁹ And Moses said this to the sons of Israel, but they didn't listen to Moses, from impatience and from hard work.

¹⁰ And Yahweh spoke to Moses saying: ¹¹ "Go speak to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he will send the Israelites from his land."

¹² And Moses spoke before Yahweh, saying: "Since the sons of Israel did not listen to me, then how will Pharaoh listen to me? When I have foreskin lips."

¹³ And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and posted them for the Israelites and for Pharaoh king of Egypt, to take the Israelites out of Egypt.

¹⁴ And these are the heads of their fathers' clans: the sons of Reuben, Israel's firstborn: Hanuch and Palu, Hetzron, and Harmi, these are the families of Reuben.

¹⁵ And Simon's sons: Yemuel and Yamin, and Ohed, and Yachin, and Tzochar and Sheul, the daughter of the Canaanite, and these are the families of Simon.

¹⁶ And these are the names of Levi's sons, in their lineages: Gershon and Kehat and Merari. And the years of Levi's life: one hundred and thirty seven years.

¹⁷ Gershon's sons: Livni and Shim'i, in their families.

¹⁸ And Konath's sons: 'Amram and Yizar and Hevron and 'Ezikiel. And the years Kehath's life: one hundred and thirty three years.

¹⁹ And Merari's sons: Machli and Mushi. And these are Levi's families, in their lineages.

²⁰ And 'Amram took Yocheved, his father's brother's daughter, as his wife. And she bore him Aaron and Moses. And the years of 'Amram's life: one hundred and thirty seven years.

²¹ And Yizar's sons: Korah and Nepeg and Zichri.

²² and Uziel's sons: Mishael and Eltzaphar and Sithri.

²³ And Aaron took Elisheva' 'Aminadav's daughter, Nachshon's sister, for his wife. And she bore him Nadav and Avihu, El'azar, and Ithamar.

²⁴ And Korach's sons: Asir and Elkanah and Aviasaph. these are the Karchi families.

²⁵ And Aaron's son El'azar took his wife from Putiel's daughters. And she bore him Pinchas. These are the Levi clan fathers, in their families.

²⁶ He is Aaron, and Moses, to which Yahweh said to them, "Take out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt in their ranks." ²⁷ Those that speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt to take out the sons of Israel from Egypt: he is Moses, and Aaron.

²⁸ And it was on the day that Yahweh spoke to Moses in Egypt. ²⁹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses to say "I am Yahweh. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything that I tell you."

³⁰ And Moses said before Yahweh: "But given that I have foreskin lips, how will Pharaoh listen to me?"

Chapter 7

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses,

See I have put you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet.

² You will speak all that I will command you, and Aaron your brother will speak to Pharaoh, and send the sons of Israel from his land.

³ And I will harden the heart of Pharaoh, and I will make many my signs and my feats in the land of Egypt. ⁴ And Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will crook my arm in Egypt, and I have brought out my ranks, my nation, the sons of Israel, from the land of Israel, in great judgments. ⁵ And Egypt will know that I am Yahweh, when I crook my arm over Egypt, and I took out the sons of Israel from within them.

⁶ And Moses and Aaron did as Yahweh commanded them, so they did. ⁷ And Moses is eighty years old, and Aaron eighty three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh. ⁸ And Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, saying:

⁹ So Pharaoh will speak to you, saying: "give a feat for yourselves", and you say to Aaron: "Take your staff and cast it before Pharaoh." It will become a crocodile.

¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and they did as Yahweh commanded, and Aaron cast his staff before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a crocodile. ¹¹ And Pharaoh also called the wise-men and the wizards, and they did this too, the occultists of Egypt, in their performances, so. ¹² And they each cast down their staff, and it became a crocodile. And Aaron's staff swallowed their staffs. ¹³ And Pharaoh's heart strengthened, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.

¹⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses:

"The heart of Pharaoh is very heavy, to send the people away. ¹⁵ Go to Pharaoh in the morning, here he is going towards the water, station yourself ahead of him, on the banks of the Nile, and the staff which became a snake, take in your hands. ¹⁶ And you said to him "Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews has sent me to you to say 'deliver my people, and they will worship me in the desert.' And look here, you have not listened until now. ¹⁷ Thus Yahweh said, by this you will know that I am Yahweh. Here I myself strike with the staff which is in my hands on the waters which are in the Nile, and they become blood. ¹⁸ And the fish which are in the Nile will die, and the river will rot, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink the water from the Nile.

¹⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Say to Aaron: "Take your staff and bend your hand on the waters of Egypt, on their rivers and on their streams and on the pools and on all their wells of water." And they will be blood. And there will be blood in all the land of Egypt, and in wood and in stone.

²⁰ And Moses and Aaron did so as Yahweh commanded, and lifted the staff, and struck the water which is in the Nile to Pharaoh's eyes and to the eyes of his servants; and all the water which is in the Nile turned to blood. ²¹ And the fish which are in the Nile died, and the Nile rotted, and the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile, and there was blood all over the land of Egypt. ²² And the occultists of Egypt did so in their feats, and Pharaoh's heart hardened and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had said. ²³ And Pharaoh turned and came to his house, and even this did not take to heart.

²⁴ And all of Egypt dug around the Nile water to drink, because they could not drink the waters of the Nile.

²⁵ And seven days passed, after Yahweh's striking the Nile.

²⁶ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Come to Pharaoh, and say to him: "Thus says Yahweh:'Send my people, and they will worship me.' ²⁷ And if you keep from sending them: Here I myself will smite all your borders in frogs. ²⁸ And the Nile will infest with frogs, and they rose and came in your house, and upon your bedroom, and on your bed, and upon the house of your servants and upon your people, and in your ovens, and in your kneading troughs. ²⁹ And upon you, and your people and all your servants, the frogs will rise.

Chapter 8

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Tell Aaron, stretch your hand with your staff, upon the rivers, on the streams and on the lakes, and raise up the frogs upon the land of Egypt."

² And Aaron stretched his hand on the waters of Egypt. And the frog rose up and covered the land of Egypt. ³ And the occultists did so in their performances, and they raised up the frogs on the land of Egypt.

⁴ And Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said "Intervene with Yahweh, and he will remove the frogs from me and my people, and I will send the people and they will sacrifice to Yahweh."

⁵ And Moses said to Pharaoh: "Humor me. At what time should I intervene for you and for your servants and for your people, to cut off the frogs from you and from your houses, to remain only in the Nile?"

⁶ And he said "Tomorrow." And he said "As you spoke. So that you will know that there is none as Yahweh our God. ⁷ And the frogs will retreat from your and from your houses and from your servants and from your people, and will remain only in the Nile."

⁸ And Moses and Aaron went away from pharaoh's company, and Moses shouted to Yahweh, about the frogs which he put to Pharaoh. ⁹ And Yahweh did as Moses spoke, and the frogs died, from the houses, from the yards, and from the fields. ¹⁰ And they collected them pile after pile, and the land reeked.

¹¹ And Pharaoh saw that there was a letup, and hardened his heart and did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.

¹² And Yahweh said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, take your staff and strike the dust of the Earth, and it was lice in all the land of Egypt." ¹³ And they did so, and Aaron sent out his hand with his staff, and struck the dust of the earth, and there was the lice on man and beast. All the dust of the earth was lice, in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁴ And the occultists did as such in their magic, to bring out the lice, and could not. And the lice were at man and beast. ¹⁵ And the occultists said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God", and Pharaoh's heart hardened, and did not hear them, as Yahweh had spoken.

¹⁶ And Yahweh said to Moses:

wake up in the morning and post yourself before Pharaoh, as here he goes to the waters, and you said to him "Thus said Yahweh:'Send my people and they will serve me. ¹⁷ Because if you do not send my people, here I will send at you and your servants and your people and your houses the swarm^[11], and also on the land which they are upon. ¹⁸ And I will set aside the land of Goshen, which my people stand upon, on the day, for a swarm not to be there, so that you will know that I am Yahweh amidst the Earth. ¹⁹ And I willbput a border between my people and your people, and this sign will be for tomorrow.'"

²⁰ And Yahweh did so, and a heavy swarm came to Pharaoh's house and the house of his servants. And in all the land of Egypt, the nation was eviscerated by the swarm.

²¹ And Pharaoh called to Moses and Aaron, and said "Go, sacrifice to your God in the land." ²² And Moses said "It is not right to do so, because the abomination of Egypt will we sacrifice to Yahweh our god, and as we sacrifice the abomination of Egypt in front of their eyes, but will they not stone us? ²³ A three days walk will we walk in the desert, and we will sacrifice to Yahweh our God as he has told us."

²⁴ And Pharaoh said: "I myself will send you and your sacrifices to Yahweh your God in the desert. Just do not walk too distant a distance. Intervene for me."

²⁵ And Moses said, "Here I myself am leaving your company, and I will intervene with Yahweh, and the swarm will be removed from Pharaoh and his servants and his people, tomorrow: just Pharaoh must not keep faking, while not sending the people to sacrifice to Yahweh."

²⁶ And Moses left Pharaoh's company, and intervened with Yahweh. ²⁷ And Yahweh did as Moses said, and the swarm retreated from Pharaoh and from his servants and from his people, and not a one was left. ²⁸ And Pharaoh hardened his heart, even this time, and did not send the people.

Chapter 9

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses: come to Pharaoh and speak to him:

Thus says Yahweh the God of the Hebrews, Send my people and they will serve me. ² Because if you keep from sending, and you still hold them, ³ Here the hand of Yahweh will be upon your livestock which is in the field, on the horses and on the donkeys and on the camels and on the cattle and on the sheep, a very heavy murrain.

⁴ And Yahweh discriminated between Israel's livestock and the livestock of Egypt, and from all that is to the sons of Israel, not a thing died. ⁵ And Yahweh set a time, saying: "Tomorrow will Yahweh do this thing on the land".

⁶ And Yahweh did this thing, from the next day on, and all the livestock of Egypt died, and from the livestock of the sons of Israel, not a one died. ⁷ And Pharaoh sent out, and look here, from the livestock of Israel not a one yet died, and Pharaoh's heart hardenend, and he did not send the people.

⁸ And Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron:

take yourselves handfuls of soot from the furnace, and Moses will throw it to the sky, in front of Pharaohs eyes. ⁹ And it will become a dust over all the land of Egypt, and it will be on man and beast, a boil inducing pox in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ And the took the soot of the furnace, and they stood before Pharaoh, and Moses threw it skyward, and there was a pox of boils sprouting upon man and beast. ¹¹ And the occultists could not stand before Moses, because of the pox. Because the pox was at the occultists and at all of Egypt.

¹² And Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh spoke to Moses.

¹³ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Rise early in the morning, and post yourself before Pharaoh, and say to him: "Thus says Yahweh the God of the Hebrews: "Send my people, and they will serve me. ¹⁴ Because this time, I am sending all my plagues at your heart, and at your servants and at your people, so that you will know that there is none like me on all the Earth. ¹⁵ Because now I will send my hand, and strike you and your people with pestilence, and you will be shorn from the Earth. ¹⁶ And although for this I have placed you, so that that I will show you my power, so that you will spread my name over all the Earth. ¹⁷ Still you are capricious with my people, so as not to send them. ¹⁸ Here, come tomorrow, I will rain a very heavy hail, the likes of which there has not been in Egypt, that from the day it was founded until now.

¹⁹ And now, dare to send your livestock and all you have into the field: any man and beast who will be found in the field, and did not gather himself homward, and the hail will fall on them and they will die."

²⁰ He of the servants of Pharaoh that feared the word of Yahweh evacuated his servants and livestock into the houses ²¹ And he who did not care in his heart about the word of Yahweh, and he left his servants and livestock in the field.

²² And Yahweh said to Moses: “Tilt your arms to the sky, and there will be hail over all of Egypt, on man and on beast and on all the grasses of the field, on the land of Egypt."

²³ And Moses tilted his staff toward the sky, and Yahweh gave sound and hail, and fire going Earthward, and Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt.

²⁴ And there was hail, and fire igniting within the hail, very heavy, the likes of which there was not over all the land of Egypt, since it was a nation. ²⁵ And the hail struck upon all the land of Egypt, all that was in the field, from man unto beast, and all the field grasses the hail struck, and every tree in the field, it broke. ²⁶ Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail.

²⁷ And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and he said to them: "This time I have sinned: Yahweh is the righteous one, and I and my nation the wicked ones. ²⁸ Intervene to Yahweh, and enough from the sounds of God and hail, and I will send you, and you shall wait no longer.

²⁹ And Moses said to him: "As I exit the city, I will spread my palm to Yahweh, and sounds shalt cease, and the hail will be no more, so that you will know that the Earth is Yahweh's. ³⁰ And you and your servants, I knew that you will not fear the presence of Yahweh God yet."

³¹ And the flax and the barley art struck, because the barley was ready, and the flax was blooming tall. ³² And the wheat and the grain were not struck, because these are still small.

³³ And moses left from Pharaoh's, and the city, and he spread his palm to Yahweh and the sounds and the hail ceased, and downpour did not scorch the Earth. ³⁴ And Pharaoh saw that the downpour and hail and sounds ceased, and continued to sin, and hardened his heart, himself and his servants. ³⁵ And Pharaoh's heart tightened, and he did not send the sons of Israel in Moses's hand, as Yahweh had spoken.

Chapter 10

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Come to Pharaoh, because I have hardened his heart, and his servants' hearts, so that I can spread forth these signs onto him. ² And so that you will tell in your sons' and grandsons' ears that how I tormented Egypt, and my signs, which I put to them. And you would know that I am Yahweh.

³ And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and said to him:

Yahweh the God of the Hebrews says this, "Til when will you keep from answering to my presence? Send my people, and they will serve me. ⁴ Because if you keep from this, from sending my people, here I will bring locusts on your borders tomorrow. ⁵ And it will cover the face of the land, and the land will not be visible, and it will eat the harvest left over, what remains to you after the hail, and it will eat every tree that grows on the field for you. ⁶ And they will fill your houses and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all of Egypt, the likes of which your fathers and your fathers' fathers did not see, from the first day they were on the land, to this day."

And he turned and exited from Pharaoh's company.

⁷ And the servants of Pharaoh said to him: "Til when will this thing be a trap for us? Send the people, and they will work Yahweh their God, before you find that Egypt has been lost."

⁸ And Moses and Aaron, were returned to Pharaoh, and he said to them, "Go and serve Yahweh your God. Who with whom are going?"

⁹ And Moses said: "We will go with our youth and our elders, and with our sons and with our daughters. And with our sheep and with our cattle, we will go. Because it is Yahweh's holiday for us."

¹⁰ And he said to them; "Yahweh will truly be with you, when I send you and your tots! See that it will be an evil in your faces. ¹¹ Not so. But, it will please the men to go, and serve Yahweh, because this is what you are asking" and he evicted them from the Pharaoh's presence.

¹² And Yahweh said to Moses: "Bend your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, and it will rise on the land of Egypt, and it will eat all the grass of the Earth, all that the hail left over."

¹³ And Moses bent his staff on the land of Egypt, and Yahweh drove an Eastern wind on the land all that day, and all the night. It was morning, and the eastern wind carried the locusts. ¹⁴ And the locusts rose up on all the land of Egypt, and came to rest on all the borders of Egypt: very heavy--- no other locusts exceeded it's like, and there will never be its like after. ¹⁵ And it covered the face of all the land, and the land darkened, and it ate all the grass of the Earth, and all the fruit of the tree that the hail spared, and no greenery was left in grass or in tree over all of the land of Egypt.

¹⁶ And Pharaoh hurried to call Moses and Aaron, and asid "I have sinned to Yahweh your God, and to you. ¹⁷ And now, please bear my sin just this one time, and intervene with Yahweh your God, and he would only remove from upon me this deadliness." ¹⁸ And he left Pharaoh's presence, and intervened with Yahwheh.

¹⁹ And westward Yahweh turned the wind^[12], very strong, and it carried the locutst, and stuck them in the Sea of reeds ^[13]: not a single locust remained in all the borders of Egypt. ²⁰ And Yahweh hardended Pharaoh's heart, and he did not send the sons of Israel.

²¹ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Send your hand to the sky, and there will be darkness over the land of egypt, a palpable darkness." ²² And moses bent his hand to the skies, and it was pitch black over all the land of Egypt for three days. ²³ A man did not see his brother, and man did not rise from his spot, three days, and to all the sons of Israel, there was light in thier settlements.

²⁴ And Pharaoh called to Moses, and said: "Go work Yahweh, just display your sheep and cattle. Your tots too will go with you."

²⁵ And Moses said: "And you will give to us in our hand the sacrifices and offerings, and we made these, to Yahweh our God? ²⁶ And our livestock shall also go with us, no hoof will remain but that we will take from it, to work Yahweh our God, and we will not know how we are to work Yahweh until we have arrived there." ²⁷ And Yahweh tightened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not come to send them.

²⁸ And Pharaoh said to him: "Get out of my sight, and watch yourself, do not see my face again, because on the day you see my face, you will die."

²⁹ And Moses said: "So you have spoken. I will no longer see your face."

Chapter 11

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses, "I will bring one more plague upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt. After this, he will send you out from this, and in sending you, he will throw you out, entirely evict you. ² Speak now to the ears of the people, and a man will ask his mate, and woman her maiden, for wares of silver and wares of gold."

³ And Yahweh gave the people popularity in the eyes of Egypt, and the man Moses too was also very mighty in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of Pharaoh's servants and in the eyes of the people.

⁴ And Moses said:

Yahweh said this, at about midnight I am going out within Egypt, ⁵ and every firstborn in Egypt will die. From the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits upon his throne, to the firstborn of the slavewoman who is behind the mill, and every firstborn beast. ⁶ And there will be a great shout in all the land of Egypt, the likes of which has never been, and to it's like will never come again. ⁷ And to all the sons of Israel, the dog will not poke its tongue, to man until beast, so that you will know that Yahweh discriminates between Egypt and Israel. ⁸ And all your servants will go down towards me, and they will bow down to me, saying 'Get out, you and all the people at your feet', and afterwards I will get out.

And he left Pharaohs presence with a snarled lip.

⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not listen to you, despite my many feats in Egypt." ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron made all these feats, before pharaoh; and Yahweh tightened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not send the sons of Israel from his land.

Chapter 12

¹ And Yahweh talked to Moses and to Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying:

² This month will be for you the leading month, for you it will be the first of the months in the year.

³ Speak to all Israel's congregation, saying: On the tenth of this month, and they will take for themselves each a lamb^[14] to their father's house--- a lamb for a household. ⁴ And if the house will have too few to have a lamb, then he will take himself and his near neighbor into his house, including all souls. To each man according to his eating will you carve the lamb.

⁵ You will have a plain male lamb, one year old. You will take from the sheep and from the goats. ⁶ And it is for you to keep until the fourteenth day of this month. And slaughter it during sunset, all the crowd of Israel's congregation.

⁷ And you will take from the blood, and put it on the two doorposts and on the top beam, over the houses where within they will eat it. ⁸ And eat the meat on this night. Eat it fire roasted, with unleavened bread on bitter herbs. ⁹ Do not eat from it raw, or cooked boiled in water, but roasted by fire, its head on its legs, ungutted. ¹⁰ And don't leave any of it until the morning, and that which is left over from it in the morning, burn in fire.

¹¹ And thus you will eat from it: your waists belted, your shoes at your feet and your staffs at your hands. Eat it in haste, it is a passover for Yahweh. ¹² And I will pass in the land of Egypt on that night, and I will strike every firstborn son in the land of Egypt, from man unto beast, and I will make judgments in all the gods of Egypt, I, Yahweh. ¹³ And the blood will be a sign for you, on the houses where there you are, and I will the blood, and I will pass over^[15] you. And with you shall be no slaughterer's plague as I strike the land of Egypt.

¹⁴ And this day for you will become a memory, and you will celebrate it as Yahweh's holiday: to your generations an eternal law, you will celebrate it. ¹⁵ Seven days will you eat matzot(unleaven bread), on the first day, cast out all yeast from your house even, because for every leaven eater, that soul is amputated from Israel--- from the first day to the seventh day.

¹⁶ A holy reading on the first day, and a holy reading on the seventh day, will be held for you. No work will be done on these, save that which will feed every soul, that alone will you get done.

¹⁷ And you kept the unleavened bread, because in essence this very day I brought out your ranks from the land of Egypt. And you kept this day to all your generations, an eternal law. ¹⁸ On the first, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, you will eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month, in the evening. ¹⁹ Seven days yeast will not be found in your house, because all that eat from leavening, and that soul will be amputated from the witness of Israel, from the wanderer to the citizen of the land. ²⁰ All leavening you will not eat, in all your settlements. You will eat unleavened bread.

²¹ And Moses called all the elders of Israel and said to them:

Pull out and take for yourself a sheep^[16] for your families, and slaughter it, the Pasach(Passover/Paschal lamb). ²² And you will take an Hyssop bunch, and dip in the blood which is at the doorstep, and touch it on the beam and the two doorposts, from the blood on the doorstep, and as for you, not a man will exit his door until morning.^{[17] 23} And Yahweh will pass to afflict the Egyptians, and will see the blood on the beam and on the two doorposts, and Yahweh will skip over this door, and will not let the slaughterer come to the house and afflict it.

²⁴ And you kept this thing, as a law for you and your sons, forever. ²⁵ And it'll be that you'll come to the land which Yahweh will give to you, as he said, and you will keep up this service.

²⁶ And it'll be that your sons will say to you, "What is this service to you?"

²⁷ And you said: "It is a passover sacrifice for Yahweh, who skipped the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, in afflicting Egypt, and saved our households," and the nation will bow their head and prostrate themselves.

²⁸ And the sons of Israel went and did so. That which Yahweh commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did. ²⁹ And it was at midnight, and Yahweh struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh sitting on his throne, to the firstborn of the captive in the house of the pit, and all the firstborn beasts.

³⁰ And Pharaoh arose at night, he and all his servants, and all of Egypt, and there was a great shout in Egypt, because there is no house where there were none dead. ³¹ And he called Moses and Aaron at night, and said

Arise, leave from among my people, both you and also the sons of Israel, and go and work Yahweh as you have spoken. ³² Take also your sheep, and your cattle, as you have spoken, and go, and also bless me.

³³ And Egypt came fast upon the people, to hurry to send them from the land, because they said "We are all dying." ³⁴ And the people carried their dough before it had risen, their kneaders stashed in their clothing, upon their backs.

³⁵ And the sons of Israel did as Moses had spoken, and asked the Egyptians for wares of silver and waves of gold, and clothing. ³⁶ And Yahweh gave the people grace in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they asked them, and they exploited Egypt.

³⁷ And the sons of Israel carried forth from Raamses towards Succoth, as six hundred thousand men, excluding children. ³⁸ And a great motley bunch went up with them, and sheep and cattle, much livestock. ³⁹ And they baked the dough which they took out from Egypt into unleavened bread-cakes, because it did not rise, because they were evicted from Egypt, and could not procrastinate, and also game-meat they did not prepare.

⁴⁰ And the settlement of the sons of Israel, that they settled in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. ⁴¹ And it was at the end of four hundred and thirty years, and it was in that very day, that all of Yahweh's ranks left the land of Egypt. ⁴² A night reserved to Yahweh, for taking them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night to Yahweh, reserved for all the sons of Israel in all their generations.

⁴³ And Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, this is the law of the passover: all the foreign sons will not eat from it. ⁴⁴ And every slave man, bought of money, if you circumcised him, then he will eat it. ⁴⁵ A resident wage earner will not eat from it. ⁴⁶ It will be eaten in one house, you will not take from the meat outside the house, and you will not break a bone of it. ⁴⁷ All of Israel's congregation will make it.

⁴⁸ And when a stranger sojourns with you, and performs the passover unto Yahweh, you shall circumcise every male of his, and then he may come to perform it. And he shall be as a citizen of the land, and all with foreskin will not eat of it. ⁴⁹ One law will be for the citizen and the proselyte who sojourns with you.

⁵⁰ And all the sons of Israel did so. As Yahweh had commanded Moses and Aaron, thus they did. ⁵¹ And it was that that very day Yahweh took the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, with all their ranks.

Chapter 13

¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying: ² "Consecrate for me every firstborn son delivered of every womb of the sons of Israel. Of man and of beast, he is for me."

³ And Moses said to the people:

Remember this day, when you left Egypt from the slave-house, because with strength of hand Yahweh took you out of this, and leavening will not be eaten.

⁴ Today you are leaving, in the month of Aviv.^{[18] 5} And it will be when Yahweh brings you to the land of the Canaaniteand the Hittite and the Amorite and the Chivite and the Jebusite, that he pledged to your fathers to give to you, a land overflowing with milk and honey, and you worked this service on this month.

⁶ Seven days, will you eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day, a holiday for Yahweh. ⁷ Unleavened bread will be eaten of those seven days. And leavening will not be seen to you, and you will not see yeast on all your borders. ⁸ And you told your sons on that day, saying: "In exchange for this did Yahweh do for me, in my leaving Egypt." ⁹ And it will be for you as a sign on your hand, and a memory between your eyes, so that the Torah(law) of Yahweh will be at your mouth. Because with a strong hand Yahweh took you out of Egypt. ¹⁰ And you kept this ordinance, at its season, from these days all days onward.

¹¹ And it will be that Yahweh will bring you to the land of the Canaanite, as he has pledged to you and your fathers, and gave it to you. ¹² And you passed all delivered of womb to Yahweh, and all delivered first of beast, which will be to you the males, for Yahweh. ¹³ And all donkeys delivered you will redeem with a lamb, and if you will not redeem it, and you broke its neck. And all the firstborn of men of your sons will you redeem.

¹⁴ And it will be that your son will ask you tomorrow, saying "What is this?" And you said to him: "With a strong hand Yahweh sent us out of Egypt, from the slave-house." ¹⁵ And it was when Pharaoh hardened to sending us, and Yahweh killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beasts. For this reason I am sacrificing to Yahweh, all males passed of the womb, and all the firstborn of my sons, I will redeem. ¹⁶ And it was a sign on your hand, and scrolls between your eyes, because with a strong hand Yahweh sent us out of egypt.

¹⁷ And it was in Pharaoh sending the people, and God did not set them through the land of the Plishtim(Philistines), because near was he, because God said lest the people feel sorry at seeing war, and to Egypt returned. ¹⁸ And God turned the people around through the desert of the sea of reeds. And up the sons of Israel went armed from the land of Egypt.

¹⁹ And Moses took Joseph's bones along with him, because he swore an oath from the sons of Israel, saying "God commanded a command of you, and you brought my bones up from this with you."

²⁰ And they drove off from Succoth, and camped in Etham, on the edge of the steppe. ²¹ And Yahweh walked in front of them daily in a cloud column, to set them on the way, and nights in a fire column, for to light for them the walking, day and night. ²² And the cloud column did not withdraw in days, and the fire column nights, before the people.

Chapter 14

¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

² Speak to the sons of Israel, and they will settle and camp before Pi-Hachiroth(mouth-of-freedom), between Migdol and the sea. Facing Ba'al-Tsfon(Lord-North). Encamp prepared by the sea.

³ And Pharaoh says of the sons of Israel: "they are confused in the land. The steppe has enclosed them." ⁴ And I hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he chased after them, and it will be hard on Pharaoh and on all his soldiers, and the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh

and they did so.

⁵ And it was told to the king of Egypt that the nation had fled, and pharaoh's inclination, and that of his servants, flipped towards the people. And they said "What is this that we have done, that we have sent Israel away from serving us?"

⁶ And he took out his chariot, and took his people with him. ⁷ And he took six hundred top chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over the whole.

⁸ And Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And he chased after the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel are leaving with hand held high. ⁹ And the Egyptians chased after them, and they caught up with them encamped by the sea, all the horse-drawn chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and his soldiers--- on Pi-Hachiroth, before Ba'al-Tsfon. ¹⁰ And Pharaoh came close, and the sons of Israel lifted their eyes and here is Egypt driving after them, and they feared much, and the sons of Israel shouted to Yahweh.

¹¹ And they said to Moses:

So Egypt was without graves that you took us into the steppe to die? What is this you have done to us, taking us out of Egypt? ¹² In fact, this is the thing that we told you in Egypt, saying "leave us be, and we will work for Egypt: because it is better for us to work for Egypt than to die in the steppe."

¹³ And Moses said to the people:

Do not fear--- gather and see Yahweh's salvation, that he will do for you today. Because as you have seen Egypt today, you will not see them again, for all time. ¹⁴ Yahweh will fight for you, and you will fall silent."

¹⁵ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Why are you shouting to me? Speak to the sons of Israel, and they will drive off.

¹⁶ And you, lift your staff, and tilt your hand on the sea, and sink the sea, and the sons of Israel will come in the sea, on dry land. ¹⁷ And I, here I will harden the heart of Egypt, and they will come after you; and it will be hard on Pharaoh and on all his soldiers, on his chariots and on his horsemen. ¹⁸ And the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh, when I make it hard on Pharaoh and on his chariots and on his horsemen.

¹⁹ And an angel of God drove forth, walking before Israel's camp, and he walked behind them, and he carried the cloud column away from them, and stood behind them. ²⁰ And he came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel, and it was the cloud, and at the dark it lit up the night, and they did not get closer one to the other, all night.

²¹ And Moses tilted his hand on the sea, and Yahweh drove the sea with a strong western wind all night, and he lay the sea to waste, and the waters dried. ²² And the sons of Israel came inside the sea, on the dry-land. And the water was to them a fortress wall, on their right and on their left.

²³ And Egypt chased and came after them, all the Pharaoh's horses, his chariots and horsemen, into the sea.

²⁴ And it was at the early morning, and Yahweh scoped on the Egyptian camp, in the column of fire and cloud, and awed the Egyptian camp. ²⁵ And he took off their chariot wheels, and they drove heavily, and Egypt said, I will flee away from Israel, because Yahweh is fighting for them against Egypt.

²⁶ And Yahweh said to Moses: bend your arm on the sea, and the waters will return on Egypt, on his chariots and on his horsemen. ²⁷ And Moses tilted his hand on the sea, and the sea returned at daybreak to its full strength. And the Egyptians fleeing towards it. And Yahweh shook Egypt clean inside the sea. ²⁸ And the waters returned, and they covered the chariots and the horsemen, all Pharaoh's army coming after them, in sea. There remained of them not one.

²⁹ And the sons of Israel walked on the dry land, inside the sea, and the waters for them a fortress, on their left and on their right. ³⁰ And Yahweh saved Israel on that day from the hand of Egypt, and Israel saw Egypt, dead on the sea's edge. ³¹ And Israel saw the great hand which Yahweh did over Egypt, and the people feared Yahweh, and they believed in Yahweh and in Moses, his servant.

Chapter 15

¹Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and they said

²⁰ And Miryam(Miriam) the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took the drum in her hand, and all the women came out after her, with drums and praises. ²¹ And Miriam answered them: "Sing to Yahweh. Because, pride of prides, horse and rider sank at sea."

²² And Moses led Israel's drive from the sea of reeds, and they exited to the wilderness of Shur, and they walked three days in the desert, and did not find water. ²³ And they came to Marah, and they could not drink the water from Marah because they are bitter(Marim). For this reason it was named Marah(bitter(fem)).

²⁴ And the people murmured against Moses, saying: "What will we drink?" ²⁵ And he shouted to Yahweh, and Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the water, and the waters sweetened. In that place he placed a law and judgment, and in that place tried him.

²⁶ And he said: "If you hear, hear the voice of Yahweh, your God, and do that which is straight in his eyes, and listen to his commandments, and kept all his laws, all that disease that I put upon Egypt I will not put upon you, because I am Yahweh, your doctor." s

²⁷ And they came to Elim, and there there were twelve water springs, and seventy palm trees, and they camped there by the water.

Chapter 16

¹ And they drove off from Eilim, and the whole congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Eilim and the Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their leaving the land of Egypt.

² And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the desert. ³ And the sons of Israel said to them: "Who could give us death in Yahweh's hands in the land of Egypt, where we sat on the meat pots, where we ate bread to satiety? Because you took us out into this wilderness to put this whole crowd to death by starvation."

⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Here I will rain bread from the sky for you. And the people will come out and pick up the thing each day the day's, so that I will try them, will they walk in my law, or not. ⁵ And it will be on the sixth day, and the prepared that which they will bring, and there will be seconds above that which they will collect day by day.

⁶ And Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel:

Come evening, you will know that Yahweh took you out of the land of Egypt. ⁷ And morning, and you will see the honor of Yahweh, that he listens to your complaints about Yahweh; and what be we that you should murmur against us?

⁸ And Moses said:

In Yahweh giving to you in the evening meat to eat, and bread in the morning to fill you up, in Yahweh listening to your complaints, which you murmur against him, and what be we? Not against us are your complaints, but against Yahweh.

⁹ And Moses said to Aaron:

"Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, come close before Yahweh, because he has heard your complaints."

¹⁰ And it was as Aaron had spoken to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and the turned to the wilderness, and here the honor of Yahweh appeared in a cloud.

¹¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

¹² I have heard the complaints of the sons of Israel. Speak to them, saying, "During sunset, eat meat, and in the morning fill up on bread, and you would know that I am Yahweh your God."

¹³ And it was in the evening, and the gamebirds rose up and covered the camp. And in the morning, there was a layer of dew around the camp.

¹⁴ And the layer of dew rose, and here on the face of the wilderness, thin and scaly, thin as hoarfrost on the ground. ¹⁵ And the sons of Israel saw, and said each man to his brother: "'tis what?" Because they did not know what it was.

And Moses said to them:

"This is the bread that Yahweh gave to you for eating. ¹⁶ This is the thing that Yahweh commanded. Collect from it, each as he eats. An 'omer per head, the number of your souls, to each man who is in his tent, take.

¹⁷ And the sons of Israel did thus, and they collected, some much, some little. ¹⁸ And they measured it in 'omers, and the collector of much did not get preference, and the collector of little did not lack: each man as he eats, they collected.

¹⁹ And Moses said to them: "No man will leave-over of this until morning." ²⁰ And they did not listen to Moses, and people left of it over until morning, and it rose up worms and rotted, and Moses foamed at them.

²¹ And they collected it each morning that morning, each man as he eats. And the sun was hot, and it melted. ²² And it was on the sixth day, and they collected secondary bread, two omer's for one. And all the leaders of the congregation came and said to Moses.

²³ And he said to them: "This is what Yahweh spoke about. Sabbath's rest day is holy for Yahweh tomorrow: that which you will bake, bake, and that which you will cook, cook, and all the surplus put aside to keep until the morning."

²⁴ And they put it aside until morning, as Moses commanded, and it did not rot, and not a crawling thing was in it.

²⁵ And Moses said: "Eat it today, because today is a sabbath for Yahweh: today you will not find it in the field. ²⁶ Six days will you will collect it, and on the seventh day it halts, of it there will not be."

²⁷ And it was on the seventh day, some went out from the people to collect, and they did not find.

²⁸ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Until now, you kept from following my commandments and my law. ²⁹ See that Yahweh gave to you the sabbath, for this he gave to you on the sixth day bread for two days. Go each man to his spot, each man do not go out from his place, on the seventh day.

³⁰ And the people rested on the seventh day.

³¹ And the house of Israel called it "Man"(Manna/Aramaic-y What) and it is like a white Gad seed, and its taste as wafers coated in honey.^{[20] 32} And Moses said, this is the thing that Yahweh commanded--- fill an Omer of it, to keep to your generations: so that they will see the bread which I fed to you in the desert, in taking you out of the land of Egypt. ³³ And Moses said to Aaron, take on jar, and put in it an 'omerful of manna, and lay it down before Yahweh to keep through the generations. ³⁴ As Yahweh commanded moses, and Aaron set it down before the congregation for keeping.

³⁵ And the sons of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to a land of settelement. They ate the manna until they came to the edge of the land of Canaan.

³⁶ And the omer, it is a tenth of an Eifa.^[21]

Chapter 17

¹ And all the congregation of the sons of Israel drove off from the steppe of Sin on their journey, by Yahweh's word, and they camped in Refidim, and there is no water to quench the people.

² And the people argued with Moses and said "Give us water, and we will drink."

And Moses said to them "What arguest thou with me? What tryest thou of Yahweh?"

³ And there the people thirsted for water, and the people murmured against Moses and said "Why is this that you brought us up from Egypt? To kill me and my sons and my livestock with thirst?"

⁴ And Moses shouted to Yahweh saying "What will I do for these people? In a little bit they will stone me."

⁵ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Pass before the people, and take with you of the elders of Israel, and your staff with which you hit the Nile take in your hands, and you'll go. ⁶ And here I am standing before you on the stone in Chorev(Horeb), and you'll strike the stone and out of it will come water, and the people will drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

⁷ And he named the place Massah and Merivah(Meribah/arguing), for Israel's sons' argument(riv), and for their testing Yahweh, saying "But is there Yahweh among us, or isn't there?"

⁸ And 'amalek came, and fought with Israel in Refidim.

⁹ And Moses said to Yehoshua(Joshua) "Choose men for us, and go battle 'amalek. Tomorrow^[22] I will post myself on the top of the hill and the staff of God in my hands." ¹⁰ And Joshua did as Moses told him, battling 'amalek, and Moses and Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ And it was when Moses lifted his hand that Israel prevailed, and when he lowered his hand, then 'amalek prevailed.

¹² And the hands of Moses were heavy, and they took a stone and put it beneath him and he sat on it. And Aaron and Chur supported his hands, one on the one and one on the other. And his hands were true until the coming of the sun. ¹³ And Joshua weakened 'amalek and his people by the sword.

¹⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Write this reminder in the book, and put it to Joshua's ears, because wipe out, I will wipe out the memory of 'amalek from under the sky."

¹⁵ And Moses built an altar, and named it "Yahweh Nisi"(Yahweh tested me). ¹⁶ And said, "By hand on Yah's throne, Yahweh's war on 'amalek from generation to generation."

Chapter 18

¹ And Jethro, the priest of Midyan, Moses's father in law, heard all that God had done for Moses and for Israel, his people, that Yahweh had brought out Israel from Egypt.

² And Jethro, Moses's father in law, took Tzipporah, Moses's wife, after her sending away. ³ And her two sons, of whom the name of the one is Gershom, because he said "I was a stranger(ger) in a foreign land". ⁴ And the name of the one is Eliezer(My God is an aid)--- because my fathers' God is at my aid, and rescued me from Pharaoh's sword.

⁵ And Jethro, Moses's father in law, and his sons, and his wife, came to Moses, to the steppe, there where he was camped--- the mount of God. ⁶ And said to Moses, "I Jethro, your father in law, come to you, and your wife, and her two sons with her."

⁷ And Moses came out towards his father in law, and they bowed down and he kissed him, and each wished the other peace, and they came to the tent.

⁸ And Moses told his father in law all that Yahweh had done to Pharaoh and to Egypt, for Israel's sake: of all the hardship they encountered along the way, and Yahweh did save them. ⁹ And Jethro hearkened to all the good that Yahweh had done for Israel, that he had rescued her from the hand of Egypt.

¹⁰ And Jethro said, "Blessed is Yahweh, who rescued you from Egypt's hand and from Pharaoh's hand, who rescued the people from under Egypt's hand. ¹¹ Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all the gods, because of the things that befell them."

¹² And Jethro, Moses's father in law, took an offering and sacrifices to God, and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses's father in law, before God.

¹³ And it was at the next day, and Moses returned to judge the people. And the people stood next to Moses from the morning until the evening. ¹⁴ And Moses's father in law saw all that he is doing for the people, and said "What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why are you sitting alone, and all the people are posted against you from the morning until the evening?"

¹⁵ And Moses said to his father in law: "Because the people come to me to petition God. ¹⁶ Because when something happens, it comes to me, and I judge it, between a man and his peer. And I inform them of the laws of God, and his teaching."

¹⁷ And Moses's father in law said to him:

It is not good, the thing that you are doing. ¹⁸ You will wilt, wilt, you and this people with you, because the thing is weightier than you, you could not do it alone.

¹⁹ Now listen to me, I will advise you, and god be with you. Be you for the people before God, and you will bring the things to God. ²⁰ And you will warn them of the laws and of his teachings, and you informed them of the way by which they will walk, and of the deeds that they will do.

²¹ And you will gather from the people men of arms who fear God, men of truth, who hate graft, and put upon them managers of thousands, managers of hundreds, managers of fifties, and managers of tens. ²² And they will judge the people at all times, and it will be that every big thing they will bring to you, and all the little things they will judge themselves, and lighten your load, and they will carry it with you. ²³ If you will do this whole thing, and God commands you, and you will be able to stand, and also this whole people will come in peace to its place.

²⁴ And Moses listened to his father in law, and did all that he said.

²⁵ And Moses selected men of arms from all of Israel, and gave them as leaders on the people--- managers of thousands, managers of hundreds, managers of fifties, and managers of tens. ²⁶ And they judged the people at all times: the difficult thing they brought to Moses, and all the little things they judged.

²⁷ And Moses sent his father in law, and he walked off to his land.

Chapter 19

¹ In the third month after the sons of Israel left the land of Egypt, on that day they came to the Sinai desert. ² And they drove off from Rafidim, and they came to the Sinai desert, and they camped in the desert, and there Israel camped, against the mountain.

³ And Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called him from the mountain saying:

So you will say to the house of Jacob, and you will tell the sons of Israel:" ⁴ You saw that which I did to Egypt, and I will carry you on eagles' wings, and I will bring you to me.

⁵ And now, if listen to me you will listen, and you keep my covenant, and you were excellent to me among the peoples, because all the Earth is mine.^{[23] 6} And you will be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation, and these are the things that you will tell the sons of Israel.

⁷ And Moses came, and called the people's elders, and put before them all these things, that Yahweh had commanded him. ⁸ And all the nation answered together and said "All that Yahweh said, we will do."

And Moses repeated the people's words to Yahweh.

⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Here I myself come to you in the thick of a cloud, in order that the people will listen to my words with you, and in you they will also believe forever."

And Moses told the people's words to Yahweh.

¹⁰ And Yahweh said to Moses

Go to the people, and you will bless today and tomorrow, and they will launder their clothes. ¹¹ And they will make ready for the third day, because on the third day Yahweh will descend in the sight of all the people on mount Sinai. ¹² and you will cordon the people around saying: "keep you from climbing the mountain and from touching its edge: any that touch the mountain will die a certain death. ¹³ You will not touch a hand to it, because stoned will he be stoned or shot will he be shot. Be it beast or man, it will not live." At the blow of a horn they shall climb the mountain.

¹⁴ And Moses descended from the mountain to the people, and the people gave blessing and laundered their clothes. ¹⁵ And he said to the people: "Be ready for three days: do not approach a woman."

¹⁶ And it was on the third day on the coming of morning, and there were noises and lighting and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of a very loud shofar(ram's horn), and all the people who were in the camp trembled . ¹⁷ And Moses brought out the people towards God, from the camp, and they stationed at the bottom of the mountain. ¹⁸ And mount Sinai is all smoke, because Yahweh did come down upon it, and his smoke rose like the smoke of a furnace, and all the mountain trembled a lot. ¹⁹ And the sound of the shofar went and intensified a lot. Moses spoke, and God answered him with voice. ²⁰ And Yahweh came down on mount Sinai, to the peak of the mountain, and Yahweh called to Moses, to the peak of the mountain, and Moses went up.

²¹ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Go down and testify to the people, lest they break through to see Yahweh, and many of them will fall. ²² And even the priests who are submitted to Yahweh will be blessed, lest Yahweh burst against them."

²³ And Moses said to Yahweh: "The people will not be able to climb up mount Sinai, because you have committed us by saying "Cordon the mountain and bless it."

²⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Go down and come up, you and Aaron with you, and the priests and the people will not break through to go up to Yahweh, lest he burst against them."

²⁵ And Moses came down to the people, and said it to them.

Chapter 20

¹ And Yahweh spoke all these things, saying: s

² I am Yahweh your God, who took you out of the land of Egypt, from the slave-house.³ You will have no other Gods in my presence.

⁴ You will make for yourself no statue and no image of that in the skies above and that in the land below, and that in the water underneath the land.^{[24] 5} You will not bow to them, and you will not worship them, because I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous god, commanding blight, from fathers to sons to the third generation and the fourth generation, to my detesters. ⁶ And I will have kindness on the thousands, to those that love me, and that keep my commandments. s

⁷ And you will not carry the name of Yahweh your God in vain, because Yahweh will not absolve he who carries his name in vain. p

⁸ Remember the shabbat(sabbath/rest) day, in its holiness. ⁹ Six days you will work, and you will make all your craft. ¹⁰ And the seventh day, rest for Yahweh your God. You will not do any craft, you and your sons and your daughters, and your slave, and your slave-woman, and your beasts, and the stranger who is within your gates. ¹¹ Because six days did Yahweh make the skies and the Earth, and the seas and all that is within them, and he rested on the seventh day. Because of this, Yahweh blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. s

¹² Respect your father and your mother, so that your days shall be long upon the earth, which Yahweh your God gives you.s

¹³ You will not murder. s

¹⁴ You will not commit adultery. s

¹⁵ You will not steal. s

¹⁶ You will not aggrieve your fellow man with false testimony. s

¹⁷ You will not covet your fellow man's household. s You will not covet your fellow man's wife, or his slave-men, or his slave-women or his ox or his donkey, or all that is your fellow man's. p

¹⁸ And all the people saw the voices and the flames and the sound of the shofar and the mountain and the smoke, and they moved off and stood at a distance. ¹⁹ And they said to Moses: "You speak with us, and we will listen, and let God not speak to us, lest we die."

²⁰ And Moses said to the people: "Do not fear, because God came in order to test you, and so that his fear will be present upon you, so that you will not sin."

²¹ And the people stood at a distance, and Moses approached the fog, there where God was. s

²² And Yahweh said to Moses:

So you will say to the sons of Israel: "You have seen that I have spoken with you from the sky. ²³With me you will not make gods of silver and gods of gold; these you will not make for yourself.^{[25] 24} Make for me an altar of earth, and you will sacrifice upon it your sacrifices and your offerings, your sheep and your cattle, in every place where my name will be called up, I will come to you and bless you.

²⁵ And if you make for me an altar of stone, you will not build them from hewn stones, because you strike it with your blade, and defile it. ²⁶ And you will not go up steps to my altar, so that your nakedness will not be revealed upon it.

Chapter 21

¹ And these are the judgments which you will put before them.

² If you buy a Hebrew slave, six years he will work, and on the seventh he will leave free, at no cost. ³ If he came single, he will leave singly, if he is a man with wife, and his wife will leave with him. ⁴ If his master will give him a wife, and she bore him sons or daughters, the woman and her sons will be to her master, and he will leave singly.

⁵ And if says the slave, he says: "I love my master and my wife and my sons. I will not leave free." ⁶ Then his master shall submit him to God, and he shall submit him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master will drill his ear through with an awl, and he is his slave forever.

⁷ And if a man will sell his daughter as a slave-woman, she will not leave as the slaves leave. ⁸ If she is bad in the eyes of her master, who did not intend her, then he passes her on. He has no power to sell her to a foreign nation, in his betrayal of her.^{[26] 9} And if to his son he will intend her, he will do to her as is the law for daughters.

¹⁰ If he takes another for himself, her portions, her clothing, and her conjugal time he will not diminish. ¹¹ And if he didn't do these three things for her, and she got out at no cost, no money. s

¹² He who strikes a man who dies, will be killed. ¹³ And he who did not premeditate, and God moved his hand, I will put for you a place for him to flee there.

¹⁴ However, who sneaks on his fellow man to kill him in stealth, even from my alter take him to die.

¹⁵ And who strikes his father and his mother, will be killed. ¹⁶ And who steals a man and sells him and it is found in his hand, will be killed. s ¹⁷ And who curses his father and his mother, will be killed.

¹⁸ And if men will argue, and a man struck his brother with a rock or with a fist, and did not die, but fell to bed. ¹⁹ If he got up and walked around outside, on his supports, then the blow is absolved. Only his idleness will he compensate, and his healing heal.

²⁰ And which man will strike his slave-man or slave-woman with a rod, and he died under his hand, upon him will vengeance be avenged. ²¹ But if he will stand in a day or two, he will not be avenged, because he is his property.

²² And if men will collude to afflict a pregnant woman and her children are expelled, and there will not be a disaster, a punishment will they be punished, as suggested by the woman's husband, and he will give as the ruling. ²³ And if there will be a disaster, and you will give a soul for a soul.

²⁴ An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, hand for a hand, leg for a leg. ²⁵ Burn for a burn, wound for a wound, lash for a lash.

²⁶ And which man shall strike the eye of his slave-man, or the eye of his slave-woman, and destroyed it, he will be set free, for his eye. ²⁷ And if the tooth of his slave-man or the tooth of his slave-woman he will make fall, he will be set free, for his tooth.

²⁸ And if an ox will gore a man or a woman, and died, with stones the ox will be stoned, and his meat will not be eaten, and the owner of the ox is absolved. ²⁹ And if an ox is a gorer since yesterday and the day before, and it was testified to his owner, and he did not guard him, and it killed a man or a woman, the bull will be stoned, and also its owner will be put to death. ³⁰ If a ransom, is sent to him, and he gave as the redemption of his soul, as all that is sent to him. ³¹ Whether a son is gored, or a daughter is gored, as this judgment will be done to him ³² If the ox will gore a slave-man or a slave-woman, thirty shekels of silver will he give to his master, and the bull will be stoned

³³ And if a man will open a pit, or a man will dig a pit and not cover it, and an ox or a donkey fell in there, ³⁴ the owner of the pit will pay money returned to its owner, and the carcass will be to him.

³⁵ And if the ox of a man will gore the ox of his fellow, and it died, and they will sell the live bull, and halve the money, and the carcass they shalt also halve. ³⁶ Or if it was known that the ox is a gorer from yesterday, day before, and his owner did not keep guard over him, then pay he will pay an ox for an ox, and the carcass will be his.

³⁷ If a man will steal an ox or a lamb, and slaughtered it or sold it, five heads of cattle will he pay for the ox, and four sheep for the lamb.

Chapter 22

¹ If a thief will be found in the shadows, and he is struck and dies, he has no blood cost. ² If the sun shone upon him, he has blood cost. [If he isn't killed,] He will pay, if he has not^[27], and he will be sold for his thieving. ³ If find you shall find the theft in his hand, from ox to donkey to lamb, alive, he will pay two.

⁴ Which man shall let a field or vineyard be consumed, and he sent that which is consuming, and consumed in a different field, the best of his fields and the best of his vinyards will he pay.

⁵ If a fire will break out and found tinder, and harvested grain is consumed or growing grains, or the field, he who kindled the destruction will pay the whole.

⁶ Which man will give to his fellow man money or tools to guard, and it was stolen from the house of the man, if the thief will be found, he will pay double. ⁷ If the thief will not be found, and the house master will be brought near to God, if he did not have a hand in his neighbors works.

⁸ On every criminal act upon an ox, upon a donkey, upon a lamb, upon propertye, upon loste things, of which is said that he is the one, the words of the two will come unto God: whoever God will condemn will pay double to his fellow.

⁹ Which man will give to his fellow a donkey or an ox or a lamb, and any beast, to guard, and it died or injured or got lost, out of sight. ¹⁰ The oath of Yahweh will be between the two of them--- if he did not have a hand in the workings of his fellow, and the owner will take and he will not pay. ¹¹ And if stolen it was stolen from him, he will pay to its owner. ¹² If it is predated by predator, they will bring a witness: for the predation he will not pay.

¹³ And which man will borrow from his fellow, and it is injured or dies, its owner is not with it, pay he will pay. ¹⁴ If its owner is with it, he will not pay. If he is a hired hand, it will come from his wage.

¹⁵ And if a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed, and slept with her: he will a dowery endower her, for a wife. ¹⁶ If her father will refuse, refuse to give her to him--- he will weigh out money, as the dowry of the virgins.

¹⁷ A witch will not live.

¹⁸ Any that sleeps with a beast, will be killed dead.

¹⁹ One who sacrifices to gods will be shunned, excepting only Yahweh.

²⁰ And the stranger you will not afflict, and you will not oppress, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

²¹ Every widow and fatherless child, you will not torment. ²² If you torment them with any torments, if that he will shout a shout to me, I will hear it, hear his shout. ²³ And my lips will snarl, and I will kill you by the sword, and your wives will be widows, and your sons fatherless.

²⁴ If you will loan money to my people, of the poor within you, you will not treat him as a creditor does, thou shalt not put interest upon him. ²⁵ If clothing you will wreck, you will pay your fellow, until the coming of the sun tend it to him. ²⁶ Because it is his only covering, it is a dress for his skin. What will he lie down in? And were he to shout to me, and I will hear, because I am merciful.

²⁷ You will not curse God, and a prince of your people, you will not smear. ²⁸ For your goods and your wine-pressings do not be late, your eldest son offer to me.^[28]

²⁹ Thus you will do for your oxen and your sheep: seven days it will be with its mother, on the eighth day, give to me. ³⁰ And a holy people thou shalt be to me, and predated carcasses in the field you will not eat, thou shalt throw it to the dogs.

Chapter 23

¹ Do not bring spurious testimony. Do not extend your hand with the wicked, to be an aid to violence. ² Do not follow the many to wrongdoing, and you will not answer to a dispute so as to incite the many to mistakes.

³ Do not glorify the impoverished in his disputes.

⁴ If you run into your enemy's ox, or his donkey, astray, return it to him. ⁵ If you will see your detester's donkey squatting under its load, and you kept from letting it be, let you will let be alongside.

⁶ Do not bias the sentence of your poor in his dispute.

⁷ Keep distant from lying words. Do not kill the innocent and righteous, because I will not make the wicked come out righteous.

⁸ Do not take a bribe, because a bribe will blind the alert, and will twist the words of the righteous.

⁹ Do not oppress a stranger, and you have known the soul of the stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ And six years seed your land, and gather its bounty. ¹¹ And the seventh, leave fallow and neglect it, and the impoverished of your people will eat, and the remainder the field animal will eat. Thus you will do to your vineyards and olive groves.

¹² Six days you will do your tasks, and on the seventh day be idle, so that your oxen and donkeys will rest, and the son of your slave-woman will refresh, and the stranger.

¹³ And all that I have said to you, keep, and the name of other gods you will not recall, they will not be heard on your lips.

¹⁴ Three celebrations will you hold to me each year.

¹⁵ Keep the holiday of unleavened bread. Seven days will you eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you the time of the month of Aviv^[29], because then you left Egypt, and they will not see my face empty-handed.^[30]

¹⁶ And the harvesting holiday, at the first grown of your labors, that you will seed in the field, and the gathering festival at the end of the year, in your collecting your labors from the fields.

¹⁷ three times a year, all your males will appear to my presence, the lord Yahweh.

¹⁸ You will not sacrifice on bread the blood of my altar, and you will not leave over the fat of my feast until the morning.

¹⁹ First bring the earliest grown on your lands to the house of Yahweh your God.

You will not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.

²⁰ Here I myself send an angel before you to guard you on your path, and to bring you to the place I have prepared. ²¹ Keep alert from his face, and listen to him, do not rebel against him, because he will not tolerate your crimes, because my name is within him. ²² Because if listen you will listen to him, and you did all that I will speak, and I will make your enemies my enemies, and trouble your foes. ²³ Because my angel will walk before you, and will bring you to the Amorite and the Hittite and the Prizite and the Canaanite and the Chivite and the Yevusite and I will cut them down.

²⁴ You will not bow down to their gods and you will not worship them, and you will not do as they do, because destroy you will destroy them, and break you will break their monuments.

²⁵ And you worshiped Yahweh your god, and bless your bread and your water, and I will remove disease from your midst. ²⁶ There will be no miscarriage or barren woman in your land, I will fill up the your days' number.

²⁷ My threat I will send before you, and I will kill the whole people which you shall come against, and I will offer up all your enemies to you prone. ²⁸ And I will send the wasp before you, and he will evict the Chivite and the Canaanite and the Hittite from before you. ²⁹ I will not evict them from you in one year, lest the land will become wasteland, and the animals of the fields will multiply upon it. ³⁰ Little by little I will evict them from your presence, until you will be fertile and inherit the land. ³¹ And I have planned your borders from the sea of reeds until the sea of the Philistines, and from steppe onto the river, because I will give the land's settlers in your hands, and you will evict them from before you.

³² You will not make with them or their gods a pact. ³³ They will not settle in your land, lest they will cause you to sin to me, because you will worship their gods, because it will be a snare for you.

Chapter 24

¹ And to Moses He said "Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and you bow prostrate from afar."

² And Moses presented himself alone to Yahweh, and they did not present themselves, and the people did not go up with him.

³ And moses came and told the people all of Yahweh's words and of all of the rulings, and all the people answered with one voice and said "All the things that Yahweh had said we will do." ⁴ And Moses wrote down all the words of Yahweh, and he arose in the morning, and he build an alter under the mountain, and twelve monuments for the twelve tribes of Israel. ⁵ And he sent the youth of the sons of Israel, and they raised up offerings and they sacrificed whole sacrifices to Yahweh, bulls.

⁶ And Moses took half the blood and he put in the gutters, and half the blood he threw upon the altar. ⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and he read to the people's ears, and they said "As everything that Yahweh said we will do and we will listen." ⁸ And Moses took the blood and threw upon the people, and said "Here is the blood covenant which Yahweh forged with you, over all these things."

⁹ And Moses and Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, went up. ¹⁰ And the saw the God of Israel, and under his feet as a facade of worked sapphire, and as the essence of skies for purity. ¹¹ And to the nobles of the sons of Israel he did not send his hand. And they held God, and they ate and they drank.^[31]

¹² And Yahweh said to Moses, go up to me to the mountain, and be there, and I will give you the stone tablets, and the teaching(torah) and the commandment which I have written down, to instruct them.

¹³ And Moses arose, and Joshua his aide, and Moses went up to God's mountain. ¹⁴ And to the elders said, "Sit for us on this, until we will return to you. And here is Aaron and Chur with you, who has something to say will present themselves to them."

¹⁵ And Moses went up the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. ¹⁶ And Yahweh's honor dwelt on mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And he called to Moses on the seventh day, from within the cloud. ¹⁷ And the sight of God's honor was as fire eating the mountain peak, to the witness of the sons of Israel. ¹⁸ And Moses came inside the cloud, and he went up the mountain, and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Chapter 25

¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses saying:

² Speak to the sons of Israel, and they will take a donation. From every man whose heart will impel him, take my donation.

³ This is the donation which you take from them: gold, silver, and copper. ⁴ And cyan and magenta [fabric], and knits, and wool and goat-hair. ⁵ And reddened ram's skin, and sealskins^[32], and acacia wood. ⁶ And lighting oil, perfumes for ointment oils, and for the fragrant incense. ⁷ Onyx stones, and setting stones, for the Ephod and the breastplate.

⁸ And make me a holy place, and I will dwell among them.

⁹ As everything that I show you, the design of the dwelling and the design of all its artifacts, thus you will do.

¹⁰ And make a crate, from acacia wood: two cubits and a half its length, and one cubit and a half its width and one cubit and a half its height. ¹¹ And plate it with pure gold, from inside and outside plate it. And make upon it a gold crown. ¹² And cast for it four gold rings, and give to it's four supports, and two rings on its one edge, and two rings on its other edge.

¹³ And make beams of acacia wood, and plate them gold. ¹⁴ and bring the beams into the rings, on the edges of the crate, to carry the crate with. ¹⁵ In the rings of the crate the beams will be, they will not be removed from it.

¹⁶ Put into the crate the testimony that I will give to you.

¹⁷ And make a cover of pure gold, two cubits and a half its length, and a cubit and half its width. ¹⁸ And make two Cherubs(Griffins) of gold. Make them beaten metal, for the two edges of the cover. ¹⁹ And make one Griffin on the edge here and one Griffin on the edge there. From the covering you will make the Griffin on its two sides. ²⁰ And the Griffins will be extending their wings skyward, sheltering the cover with their wings, and their faces, one against his brother, on the cover will be the faces of the Griffins.

²¹ And put the cover on the crate from above, and to the crate give the testimony which I will give to you.

²² And I will reveal myself to you there, and I will speak to you from above the covering between the two Griffins which are on the crate of testimony about all that I will command you, for the sons of Israel.

²³ Make a table of acacia wood: two cubits its length and a cubit its width, and a cubit and a half its height. ²⁴ And plate it in pure gold, and make a gold crown around. ²⁵ Made a frame of a handbreadth around, and make a gold crown for its frame, all around. ²⁶ Make for it four gold rings, and put the rings on the four corners which are for its four legs. ²⁷ The four borders shalt be against the frame, to place the beams to carry the table. ²⁸ And make the beams from acacia trees and plate them with gold, and the table will be carried by them.

²⁹ Make its bowls and its spoons and it's cutlery and its clearing tools, which it will be set with. Of pure gold make them. ³⁰ And put on the table showbread, before me always.

³¹ Make a pure gold lamp(menorah), make the lamp of beaten metal. It's curves and its shaft, its cups and its knobs and its flowers will be one with it. ³² And six branches will leave its side: three lamp branches on its one side, and three lamp branches on its other side. ³³ Three almond-blossom cups on one branch, a knob and a flower, and three almond-blossom cups on the other branch, a knob and a flower, thus for the six branches that come out of the lamp. ³⁴ And in the lamp four cups, almond-blossom shaped its knobs and its flowers.

³⁵ And a knob under the two branches from it, and a [second] knob under the two branches from it, and a knob under two of the branches from it, for the six branches that leave from the lamp. ³⁶ Their knobs and their branches will be one with it, all of it one beaten work, of pure gold.

³⁷ And make its lights seven, and light up its lights, and light up all over its face, ³⁸ and its ladles and its reservoirs pure gold. ³⁹ He will make it from a talent of pure gold, all these implements.

⁴⁰ And see and do, as their plans, which you are in sight of, on the mountain.

Chapter 26

¹ And the dwelling you will make of ten drapes. Oddfeel shesh, and cyan and magenta, and knits, with griffins. Make them thoughtful work.

² The length of one drape twenty eight cubits, and width four cubits, one drape. All the drapes are of one measure. ³ Five drapes shall be joined, one against her sister, and five drapes joined, one against her sister. ⁴ And make cyan loops on the lip of one of the drapes from the edge on the cluster, and do so on the lip of the extreme drape of the second cluster. ⁵ Fifty loops make in one drape, and fifty loops make on the lip of the drape which is in the second cluster, the loops parallel, one against her sister. ⁶ Make fifty clasps of gold, and join the drapes one against her sister with clasps, and the dwelling, it will be one.

⁷ Make the drapes of goat hair, for the tent over the dwelling. Make them eleven drapes. ⁸ The length of one drape is thirty cubits, and its width four cubits, each drape. One measure for the eleven drapes.

⁹ And link the five drapes separately and the six drapes separately, and double over the sixth drape against the tent's face. ¹⁰ And make fifty loops on the lip of the one drape, the extreme of the cluster, and fifty loops on the edge of the drape of the second cluster. ¹¹ And make fifty clasps of copper, and you brought the clasps into the loops, and you joined the tent and it will be one.

¹² And the overhanging extra in the drapes of the tent, half the drape left over hang over, on the back of the dwelling. ¹³ And a cubit from this and a cubit from that will be extra, in the length of the drapes of the tent, on each side of the dwelling, to cover it.

¹⁴ And make a covering for the tent from reddened ram skins, and a covering of sealskins^[32] from above.

¹⁵ Make the planks for the dwelling, out of standing acacia trees. ¹⁶ Ten cubits the length of each plank, and one cubit and a half cubit the width of each plank. ¹⁷ Two plugs will there be on each plank, intertwined, one with her sister, thus you will make for each of the planks of the dwelling.

¹⁸ Make the planks for the dwelling, twenty planks for the south side. ¹⁹ And forty silver sockets will you make, under the twenty planks, two supports under this plank, for its two plugs, and two supports under that plank for its two plugs.

²⁰ for the other edge of the dwelling, facing north, twenty planks. ²¹ And their forty sockets will be of silver, two sockets under the one plank, and two sockets under the one plank.

²² And for the backside of the dwelling, westward, make six planks.

²³ And two planks make for the corners of the dwelling in the back. ²⁴ And they will be twins below, and together they will be simply on its front. on the one ring, the will be for both, they will be for the two corners. ²⁵ And there will be eight planks, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets, two sockets under this plank, and two sockets under that plank.

²⁶ Make five beams of acacia wood for the planks of one of the sides of the dwelling, backside westward. ²⁷ And the middle beam within the planks crosses from edge to edge. ²⁸ And plate the beams gold, and make their rings of gold-- enclosing the beams. Plated the beams with gold.

²⁹ Raise the dwelling as its law, which you were shown on the mountain.

³⁰ Make a curtain, cyan and magenta and knits, and oddfeel-shesh, thoughtfully crafted, with griffins. ³¹ And place it on the four acacia columns plated gold, and their hooks of gold on four silver sockets.

³² Place the curtain under the clasps, and bring it there within the enclosure of the curtain the crate of the testimony. And the curtain will for you separate between the holy and the holiest of holies. ³³ Place the curtain on the crate of the testimony in the holiest of holies.

³⁴ And put the table outside the curtain, and the lamp abutting the table, on the edge of the dwelling southwards. And the table place on the north edge.

³⁵ Put a screen to the opening of the tent, cyan and magenta and knits, and oddfeel shesh, embroidery work. ³⁶ And make five acacia columns for the screen, and plate them gold, their hooks gold, and mold for them five golden sockets.•

Chapter 27

¹ Make the altar of acacia trees, five cubits in length and five cubits in width. The altar will be square, and its height three cubits. ² And make its horns upon its four corners, one with itself will its horns be, and plate it with copper. ³ And make its bowls for sprinkling it, and its basins and its gutters and its carving forks and its fire pans, all its implements make of copper.

⁴ And make for it a grating, worked from a net of brass, and make on the net four rings of brass on its four corners. ⁵ Placed it under the ledge of the altar, from below. And the net will be up to the middle of the alter.

⁶ Make beams for the altar, acacia wood beams, and plate them with copper. ⁷ Bring its beams in the rings, and the beams will be on the two sides of the altar while carrying it.

⁸ Make it of hollow planks. As I will show you on the mountain, so they will do.

⁹ Make the courtyard of the dwelling facing south. Hanging borders for the garden from oddfeel shesh, one hundred cubits in length, for one hanging border. ¹⁰ And it's columns will be twenty, and their sockets twenty, of copper. The hooks of the columns and their faces will be silver. ¹¹ And thus for the northern face on its length, hanging border length one hundred, and its height twenty, and its sockets twenty of copper, the hooks of the pillars and their faces silver.

¹² And the courtyard width westward hanging border fifty cubits, their colums ten, and their sockets ten. ¹³ And the width of the courtyard facing eastward--- fifty cubits.

¹⁴ And fifteen cubits hanging border for the shoulder, their columns three and their sockets three. ¹⁵ And for the other shoulder-- fifteen hanging border, their columns three and their sockets three.

¹⁶ And for the gate of the courtyard a screen twenty cubits, cyan and magenta and knits and oddfeel shesh, embroidery work, their columns four and their sockets four.

¹⁷ All the columns of the courtyard around leafed with silver, their hooks silver, and their sockets copper. ¹⁸ And the length of the courtyard is one hundred cubits and width fifty and fifty, and its height five cubits-- oddfeel shesh, and their sockets copper.

¹⁹ For all the implements of the dwelling, in all its workings, and all its pegs and all the pegs of the courtyard, copper.

²⁰ And you will command the sons of Israel, and they will take to you pure olive oil, beaten, for light: to raise up an eternal flame.

²¹ In the event tent outside the curtain which is on the testimony, Aaron and his sons will set it up from evening until night, before Yahweh, an eternal law for their generations, toward the children of Israel.

Chapter 28

¹ And now, have Aaron your brother approach you, and his sons with him, from within the sons of Israel, to ordain him my priest. Aaron, Nadav, and Avihu, Elazar and Eitamar, the sons of Aaron.

² And make holy clothes for Aaron your brother, for honor and for splendor. ³ And you, speak to all the wise of heart, those filled with the spirit of wisdom, and make Aaron's clothes, to make him holy, to ordain him to me.

⁴ And these are the clothes that they will make: a breastplate and an ephod(shouldered apron) and a coat and a checkered gown, a turban and a girdle, and make holy clothes for Aaron your brother and his sons, to ordain him to me.

⁵ And they will take the gold and the cyan and the magenta and the knits and the oddfeel shesh. ⁶ And they will make the ephod: gold cyan and magenta knits and shesh--- thoughtfully fashioned. ⁷ It will have two enjoined shoulder pads on its two edges and joined together. ⁸ And design well the ephod which is upon him, as it crafted, of this it will be, gold, cyan and magenta and knits and oddfeel shesh.

⁹ And take the two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel. ¹⁰ Six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the six left over on the second stone, as their generation order. ¹¹ The work of a stone mason, like signet engravings engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. Gold plated settings make of them.

¹² And put the two stones and the shoulders of the Ephod, memorial stones for the sons of Israel. And Aaron will carry their names before Yahweh on his two shoulders--- for memorial.

¹³ Make checkers of gold, ¹⁴ and two chains of pure gold, of plaited thread make them, the work of a jeweler. And place the wreathed chains on the checkers.

¹⁵ Make a breastplate of the judgments, thoughtful work, as the Ephod was made make it. Gold, cyan and magenta, and knits and oddfeel shesh make it. ¹⁶ It will be square, doubled over. Its length a span and its width a span.

¹⁷ And fill it full of stones, four rows of stones: a row of sard, topaz, and emerald--- the one row. ¹⁸ and the second row--- garnet, sapphire, and diamond, ¹⁹ and the third row--- jacinth, agate, and amethyst, ²⁰ and the fourth row--- beryl, onyx, and jasper. Set in gold checkers will they be when they are done. ²¹ And the stones will be for the names of the sons of Israel twelve--- on their names engraved by an engraver, each man will have his name, for twelve tribes.

²² And ake on the breastplate plaited chain around, made by a jeweler, of pure gold. ²³ And make on the breastplate two gold rings. And place the two rings on the two edges of the breastplate. ²⁴ And place the wreathed chains on the two rings, toward the edges of the breastplate. ²⁵ And the two ends of the two wreathed chains, put on the two checkers, and you put upon the shoulders of the ephod, against its surface.

²⁶ Make two gold rings, and you put them on the two edges of the breastplate, on its lip, which is on the inward side of the ephod. ²⁷ And make two gold rings, and place them on the two shoulders of the ephod from below against its surface, aligned with its couple above, in designing the ephod. ²⁸ And its rings will attach the breastplate to the rings of the ephod in a cyan cord, to consider in the design of the ephod. And the breastplate will not sag from upon the ephod.

²⁹ And Aaron will carry the names of the sons of Israel in the breastplate of the judgments, within his heart, in coming into the holy, in memorial before Yahweh, always. ³⁰ Place on the breastplate of the judgments, the Urim and the thumim, and they will be upon Aaron's heart when he comes before Yahweh, And Aaron carried the judgments of the sons of Israel upon his heart, in Yahweh's presence, always.

³¹ Make the coat of the ephod entirely cyan. ³² And the opening for the head will be within it. It will have a lip to it's opening around, made woven, it will be made as mail-armor, it will not rip. ³³ And make its fringes pomegranates of cyan and magenta and knits--- on its fringes around, and gold bells within them, around. ³⁴ Gold bell and pomegranate, gold bell and pomegranate, on the fringes of the coat, around.

³⁵ And it will be on to Aaron to serve, and we will hear his voice in his coming into the holy before Yahweh, and in leaving--- and he will not die.• ³⁶ Make a plate of pure gold, and you engraved upon it signet engravings, holy to Yahweh. ³⁷ And put it on a cyan cord, and it will be on the turban, against the face of the turban will it be.

³⁸ And it will be on Aaron's forhead, and Aaron will carry the weight of the wrongdoings on the holy things that Israel will sanctify, to all their sanctified gifts of their blessings. And it was on his forehead always, an incentive from them in Yahweh's presence.

³⁹ Weave a checkered the gown of sixcloth, and make a sixcloth turban, and you will make a girdle, embroidery work.

⁴⁰ And for the sons of Aaron make robes. And make girdles for them, and high head covers, for honor and for splendor. ⁴¹ And dress Aaron, your brother, in them, and his sons with him. And anoint them, and fill their hands, and blessed them, and they will serve as my priests.

⁴² And make for them cloth pants to cover their naked flesh. They will go from their loins until their thighs.

⁴³ And it will be upon Aaron and on his sons as they come to the tent of events, or in presenting to the altar to serve in the holy, and they will not carry wrongdoing, or they will die. A permanent statute for him, and for his seed after him.

Chapter 29

¹ And this is the thing that you will do for them, to ordain them my priests.

Take one young bull and two plain rams. ² And bread and crackers and cracker cakes mixed into oils and cracker wafers spread with oil. You will make them of fine ground wheat flour. ³ Placed them on one basket, and present them in the basket, and the bull and the two rams.

⁴ And let Aaron and his sons approach the opening of the tent of the events, and wash them with water. ⁵ Take the clothes and dress Aaron with the robe and the coat of the ephod and the ephod and the breastplate and gird him as the design of the ephod. ⁶ Put the turban on his head, and put the holy crown on the turban. ⁷ Take the anointing oils, and smear it on his head, and you anointed him.

⁸ And present his sons, and dress them in gowns. ⁹ And belt them in girdles, Aaron and his sons, and put head coverings for them, and for them they have priesthood, an eternal statute. And you filled Aaron's hand and the hand of his sons.

¹⁰ Presented the bull, before the tent of the events, and Aaron and his sons will put their hands on the head of the bull ¹¹ And slaughter the bull, before Yahweh, at the entrance of the tent of events. ¹² Take of the blood of the bull, and place it on the horns of the altar with your fingers, and all the blood spill into the altars foundations. ¹³ Take all the fat that covers the inside, and the extra on the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat which is on them, and you rise up smoke from them on the alter. ¹⁴ And of the meat of the bull, and its skin and it dung, burn in fire outside the camp. It is sinstuff.^[33]

¹⁵ And take the one ram, and Aaron and his sons will anoint their hands on the head of the ram. ¹⁶ Slaughter the ram, and take its blood and you throw it on the alter, around. ¹⁷ Carve the ram into its cuts, and wash its insides and its limbs, and give it with its cuts and with its head. ¹⁸ Send smoke from the whole ram on the altar, it is a sacrifice for Yahweh. A comforting smell is roasting for Yahweh.

¹⁹ Take the second ram, and you anointed the hands of Aaron and his sons upon the head of the ram. ²⁰ Slaughter the ram, and take of its blood, and sprinkle it on the lobe of Aaron's ear and on the lobe of the ears of his sons, the right one. And on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot, and throw the blood on the altar, around.

²¹ Take of the blood which is on the alter, and from the anointing oils, and you sprinkled on Aaron and on his clothes, and on his sons and on the clothes of his sons with him. And bless him and his clothes, and his sons and the clothes of his sons with him.

²² Take the fat from the ram and the tail and the fat that covers the insides, and the extra on the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat which is upon them, and the right thigh, because it is a ram of fulfillment. ²³ And one loaf of bread, and a cake of oiled bread and one wafer from the basket of crackers which is before Yahweh. ²⁴ And put everything on Aaron's palms and on his son's palms, and you wave them as a wave-offer before Yahweh.

²⁵ Take them from their hands, and you raised smoke on the altar over the sacrifice. For a comforting smell before Yahweh, roasting is, for Yahweh. ²⁶ Take the breast from the ram of fulfillment for Aaron, and you waved it as a wave-offer before Yahweh, and it will be your portion.

²⁷ Blessed the breast of the wave-offering, and the thigh offering which was waved and which was lifted from the ram of fullfilment--- that which is for Aaron, and that for his sons. ²⁸ And it will be for Aaron and his sons an eternal law from the sons of israel, that his is a service, and the sons of Israel will give a service, their redeeming offerings are their donation to Yahweh.

²⁹ And the holy clothes which are to Aaron, will go to his sons after him, to annoint them in these, and to fill their hands with these. ³⁰ Seven days the priest under him will wear them, of his sons: who shall come to the tent of events, to serve in the holy.

³¹ And the ram of fulfillment you will take, and cook its meat in the holy place. ³² And Aaron and his sons will eat the meat of the ram and the bread which is in the basket, in the opening of the tent of events. ³³ And they would eat those that within them have an atonement, for filling their hands in blessing them, and a stranger will not eat, because they are holy. ³⁴ And if there will be left over of the meat of the fulfillment, and from the bread until the morning, and you burned the left overs in fire, and it will not be eaten, because it is holy.

³⁵ Do to Aaron and his sons thus, as all I have commanded you, seven days will you fill their hands.

³⁶ And a bull of sinstuff you will do up daily, above the other atonement offerings and sin offerings on the alter. In your atonement over it, and you anointed it, to bless it. ³⁷ Seven days you will atone on the alter, and you bless it; and when it is the sacrifice for the holiest of holies, all that touches the altar will be blessed.•

³⁸ And this is what you will do up on the altar: yearling sheep, two a day, always.

³⁹ The one sheep you will do in the morning, and the second sheep you will do up at sunset. ⁴⁰ And a tenth of an eipha of fine flour mixed in a quarter hin of whipped oil, and sauce, a quarter hin of wine per sheep.

⁴¹ And the second sheep you will do up at sunset. As was the meal offering of the morning, and as the sauce, make it. For a comforting smell roasting is for Yahweh.

⁴² A permanent burnt offering, for your generations, will be at the opening of the tent of events before Yahweh, where there I will attest to you, to talk to you there. ⁴³ And I will manifest there for the nation of Israel, and she will be blessed in my honor.^{[34] 44} And I will sanctify the tent of the events, and the altar, and Aaron, and his sons I will ordain, as my priests.

⁴⁵ And I dwelt within the sons of Israel, and I will be a God for them. ⁴⁶ And they will know that I am Yahweh their god, who took them out of the land of Egypt, to dwell within them. I, Yahweh, their God.

Chapter 30

¹ Make an altar, a burning incense burner of acacia wood. ² One cubit its length, and one cubit its width; it will be a square. And two cubits its height, and its horns one of itself. ³ And plate it pure gold, its roof and its walls around--- and its horns. And make a gold crown around it.

⁴ And make for it two gold rings, under its crown. Do it on its two edges. And it was for a housing for beams, for a beast to carry. ⁵ Make the beams of acacia wood, and you plated them gold.

⁶ Place it before the curtain which is on the crate of the testimony--- before the cover which is on the testimony, there, where I will tesify to you. ⁷ And Aaron will burn upon it fragrant incense, one morning, next morning, while attending the lamps will he burn incense. ⁸ And when Aaron lights the lights at sunset, he will burn incense, and he will make an incense heap permanently burning before Yahweh, onto your generations.

⁹ Upon it you will not raise foreign incense, nor burnt or meal offerings, and ointments you will not spread upon it.

¹⁰ And Aaron will atone on its horns, one in a year: from the blood of the atonement sinstuff, one a year will he atone upon it, onto your generations--- it is a holiest of holies for Yahweh.

¹¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

¹² If you count the sons of Israel, and they must each give an atonement of his own soul to Yahweh when they are counted, so there will not be a blight among tbem, as a result of counting them. ¹³ And this they will give, each that passes by the command: half a shekel, of the holy shekel-weight, twenty gerah is a shekel. Half a shekel a donation for Yahweh. ¹⁴ All those who are counted, from twenty years old and up, will give a donation to Yahweh. ¹⁵ The rich man will not increase, and the wanting will not diminish from half a shekel, to give the donation to Yahweh, to atone for their souls.

¹⁶ And you must take the money of atonement from the sons of Israel, and give for the work in the tent of events. And it will be for Israel as a memorial before Yahweh, to atone for their souls.

¹⁷ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

¹⁸ Make a basin of copper, and its stand of copper, for washing. Placed it between the event tent and the altar. And put water there.

¹⁹ And Aaron and his sons will wash their hands and their feet with it. ²⁰ In coming to the tent of events, they will wash with water, that they will not die, or in approaching the altar for service, to roast smoke^[35] for Yahweh. ²¹ And they will wash their hands and their feet, that they will not die. And it will be for you an eternal law, for him and for his seed, onto their generations.

²² And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

²³ And you, take top scents, liquid myrrh five hundred, and cinnamon scent half of it, two hundred and fifty, and calamus scent two hundred and fifty. ²⁴ And cassia, five hundred shekels the holy weight. And a hin of olive oil. ²⁵ And make it into the oil of the holy ointment--- a mixed potion, the work of a potion-maker, the oil of the holy ointment will be.

²⁶ And annoint the table of the tent of events with it, and the crate of the testimony. ²⁷ And the table, and all its implements, and the lamp, and its implements, and the altar of incense. ²⁸ And the altar of sacrifices, and all its implements, and the basin, and its stand. ²⁹ And bless them, and they were holy of holies. All that touches them will be blessed.

³⁰ And anoint Aaron and his sons, and you blessed them as my priests. ³¹ And to the sons of Israel speak, saying: "This will be the oil of the holy ointment to me, onto your generations.

³² On the flesh of man it will not be smeared, and as its recipe you will not make. It is holy, and it will be holy for you. ³³ A man who will mix up its like, and who will give of it to a stranger, and he will be cut off from his people.

³⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Take spices for you: stacte and onycha galbanum, spices, and pure frankicense, measure as measure will they be. ³⁵ And make of it incense, mixed, the work of a potion-maker, salted, holy purity.

³⁶ And grind it thinly, and you gave of it before the congregation in the tent of events, where I will testify to you, holiest of holies will it be for you. ³⁷ And the incense which you will make--- of its recipe you will not make, it will be sacred for you, for Yahweh. ³⁸ A man who will make its like to smell it, and he will be cut off from his people.

Chapter 31

¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

² Look, I called upon the name of Betsalel son of Uri son of Chur, for the tribe of Judah.

³ And I filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom and learning and knowledge and in every work. ⁴ To reckon plans, to make of gold and silver, and of copper. ⁵ And in quarrying filling-stones, and in wood harvesting, to do every craft.

⁶ And I, here I have given along with him Ahaliav son of Achisamach for the tribe of Dan.

And in the heart of all the wise of heart, I have given wisdom, and do all that I have commanded you. ⁷ And the tent of events, and the crate of testimony and the covering over it, and all the implements of the tent. ⁸ And the table and its implements, and the pure lamp, and all its implements, and the altar of incense, ⁹ and the altar of sacrifices, and all its implements, and the basin, and its stem. ¹⁰ And the pleated clothes^[36] and the sacred clothes for Aaron the priest, and the clothes of his sons, for priest duties. ¹¹ And the oil of anointing and the fragrant incense, as sacred.

As all that I have commanded you, they will do.

¹² And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

¹³ And now, speak to the children of Israel, saying: However, keep my sabbath: because it is a sign between me and you, onto your generations--- to know that it is I, Yahweh, who made you holy.

¹⁴ And you will keep the sabbath, because it is sacred for you, its defiler will be executed--- because all that work a craft upon it, and that soul will be cut off from within its people. ¹⁵ Six days, work will be done, and on the seventh day, Sabbath, a holy break for Yahweh. All that works a craft on the sabbath day will be executed.

¹⁶ And the children of Israel must keep the Sabbath, do make the sabbath, onto their generations, a permanent covenant. ¹⁷ And between me and the children of Israel, it is a sign, forever. Because six days Yahweh made the skies and the Earth, and on the seventh day, rested^[37] and replenished.

¹⁸ And He gave Moses, as he finished speaking with him on mount Sinai, two tablets of the testimony, stone tablets, written in the finger of God.

Chapter 32

¹ And the people feared, because Moses delayed coming down the mountain. And the people congregated to Aaron, and they said to him: "Arise, make us gods which will walk before us--- because, this Moses, the man that brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what happened to him."

² And Aaron said to them: "take apart the gold rings which are at the ears of your women, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me."

³ And the people broke up and brought to Aaron all the gold rings which were at their ears.^{[38] 4} And he took from them, and he fashioned it carved, and made a molded calf.

And they did say--- "These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt."

⁵ And Aaron feared, and built an alter before it, and Aaron called and said: "It is a holiday for Yahweh tomorrow."

⁶ And they woke up the next day and they raised offerings, and they offered total-sacrifices^[39], and the people sat to eat and they drank, and they rose up, in fun.

⁷ And Yahweh spoke to Moses:

Go, descend, because the people have done abomination, those who you brought up from the land of Egypt. ⁸ They have veered quickly from the path that I've commanded for them--- they made themselves a molded calf, and they prostrated themselves to it, and they sacrificed to it, and they said "These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt."

⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses:

I saw this nation, and look, she is a hard-headed nation.^{[40] 10} And now, let me alone, and my lip will snarl at them, and I will consume them, and I will make you into a great nation.

¹¹ And Moses begged the face of Yahweh his God, and said:

Why would Yahweh snarl his lip at your people, which you have taken out of the land of Egypt, in great force and with a strong hand?^[41]

¹² Why would the Egyptions say, saying, "In bad faith he took them out, to kill them in the mountains, and to annihilate them from the face of the Earth"? Reconsider your snarling, and have mercy on the evil to your people."^[42]

¹³ Remember to Abraham to Isaac and to Israel, your servants, those who you swore to them in you, and speak to them: "I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and all this land which I have said, I will give to your seed, and they will inherit, forever."^[43]

¹⁴ And Yahweh took mercy, about the evil which he spoke to do to his people.

¹⁵ And Moses turned and went down, from the mountain, and the two tablets of the testimony in his hands. Tablets written from both sides, they were written on this one and on that one. ¹⁶ The tablets, the work of God they were. And the writing, the writing of God it was, engraved on the tablets.

¹⁷ And Joshua heard the voice of the people, in its evil. And he said to Moses: "The sound of war is in the camp."

¹⁸ And he said "There is no plaintive voice to heroism, and no plaintive voice to weakness, a plaintive voice I hear."

¹⁹ And it was as he approached the camp, and he saw the calf, and the festivity, and Moses snarled his lip and he cast the tablets from his hands, and he broke them, beneath the mountain. ²⁰ And he took the calf which they had made, and he burned it with fire, and he ground it up until it was thin, and he sprinkled on the surface of the water, and he gave the sons of Israel to drink.

²¹ And Moses said to Aaron: "What did this people do to you, that you brought upon it a great sin?"

²² And Aaron said:

Don't let my master's lip snarl. You know the nation, that she has evil. ²³ And they said to me: "Make us gods, who will go before us: because this Moses, the man who raised us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what happened to him."

²⁴ And I said to them: for he who has gold, break it apart, and they will give to me, and I will throw it in fire, and this calf came out.

²⁵ And Moses saw the nation, that it is unruly. That Aaron had let it be unruly, as an auspice to their opponents.

²⁶ And Moses stood on the entrance of the camp, and said: "All of Yahweh, to me!" and all the sons of Levi gathered to him.

²⁷ And he said to them: "Thus said Yahweh, the God of Israel, put each his sword on his thigh, cross and recross from entrance to entrance in the camp, and kill each man his brother, and each man his fellow, and each man his own."

²⁸ And the sons of Levi did as Moses had spoken. And on that day, about three thousand men fell from the people.

²⁹ And Moses said: "Your hands did fill today for Yahweh, because a man is at his son, and at his brother, and to give to you today a blessing."

³⁰ And it was on the next day, and Moses said to the people: "You sinned a great sin, and now I will go up to Yahweh. Maybe I will atone for your sins."

³¹ And Moses returned to Yahweh and said:

Granted, this nation sinned a great sin, and they made for themselves gods of gold. ³² And now, if you will carry away their sin, and if it isn't, please blot me out of your book that you've written.^[44]

³³ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Whoever has sinned to me, I will blot from my book. ³⁴ And now, go lead the people to where I spoke to you--- here, my angel will walk before you, and on the day of my sentence, I will visit upon them their sin.

³⁵ And Yahweh blighted the people, over what they did, the calf which Aaron made.

Chapter 33

¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses:

Go, arise from this, you and the people which you have brought up from the land of Egypt: to the land which I have sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying "I will give it to your seed"

² And I have sent before you an angel. And I will evict the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Prizite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. ³ To a land flowing with milk and honey. Because I will not go up within you, because a hard-headed people are you--- lest I will consume you on the way.

⁴ And the people listened to this bad tiding, and they became mournful, and each man did not put on his decorations upon himself.

⁵ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Say to the sons of Israel: "You are a hard-headed people. At any moment I will rise up within you and annihilate you. And now take off your decorations from upon you, and I will know what I will do to you."

⁶ And the sons of Israel relieved themselves of their decorations, from mount Chorev.

⁷ And Moses took the tent and pitched it for himself outside the camp, at a distance from the camp, and he called it "tent of events". And it was that every one who sought Yahweh went out to the tent of events, which was outside the camp.

⁸ And it was as Moses left for the tent, the entire people rose up and stationed themselves each at the opening of their tent, and they stared at Moses until he came to the tent. ⁹ And it was as Moses came to the tent, the column of cloud came down, and it stood at the opening of the tent, and spoke with Moses. ¹⁰ And all the people saw the column of cloud standing at the opening of the tent, and all the people arose and prostrated themselves, each man at the opening of his tent.

¹¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses face to face, as a man would speak to his fellow, and he returned to the camp, and his aide Joshua bin^[45] Nun, a lad, did not appear from inside the tent.

¹² and Moses said to Yahweh:

See, you are saying to me, "Take up these people". And you have not informed me what you will send to my people. And now you said, "I will know you by name", and also, "You are pleasing to me".

¹³ And me, if I am pleasing to you, inform me please your ways, and I will know, so that I will be pleasing to you, and you will see that this nation is your people.

¹⁴ And He said: "My presence will go, and will deliver you."

¹⁵ And he said:

If your presence will not go, do not take us up from this. ¹⁶ And how will it be attested how that I am pleasing to you, me and your people? I mean, in your going with us, and distinguishing us, me and you people, from all the nation which is on the face of the Earth."^[46]

¹⁷ And Yahweh said to Moses: "Also this thing that I have spoken I will do, because you are pleasing to me, and I will know you by name."

¹⁸ And he said: "Please show to me, your honor."

¹⁹ And said, "I will bring by all my goodness in front of you, and I will call on the name of Yahweh in your presence, and I will grace that which I will grace, and I will feel for that which I will feel for."

²⁰ And He said: "You could not see my face, because a man will not see me and live."

²¹ And Yahweh said:

Here is a place filled with me, and you will post yourself against the rock. ²² And it will be as mine honor will pass, and I will put you in the nook of the rock, and I will lean my palm against you until I pass. ²³ And I will remove my palm, and you will see my back, but my face will not be shown.

Chapter 34

¹ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Sculpt for yourself two stone tablets like the first, and I will write on the tablets the things which were on the first tablets which you broke.

² And be ready for the morning, and on the morning you will come up to mount Sinai, and you post yourself to me there on the top of the mountain. ³ And no man will go up with you, and also no man will show up on the whole mountain, and also the sheep and the cattle must not be herded in front of this mountain.

⁴ And he sculpted two stone tables like the first. And Moses arose early in the morning and he went up mount Sinai, as Yahweh commanded him, and he took in his hands two stone tablets.

⁵ And Yahweh came down in a cloud, and stationed himself there, and he called Yahweh's name. ⁶ And Yahweh passed right in front of him, and he called

Yahweh, Yahweh, merciful and pitying God, long of patience, and full of kindness and truth. ⁷ Rememberer of kindness for the thousands, bearer of ill-deed and crime and sin.

And he will not absolve--- he remembers ill-deeds of the fathers on the sons and on the grandsons, on the third and on the fourth generation.

⁸ and Moses hurried, and bent his head earthward, and prostrated himself. ⁹ And he said:

Please, if I have pleased you, lord, please let my lord walk within us: because it is a hard-headed people, and forgive our misdeeds and our sins and deliver us.

¹⁰ And He said:

Here I am forging a covenant. In front of all your people I will do wonders which have not existed in all the Earth and in all the nations. And all the people that you are among will see Yahweh's doing, that it is awesome, that which I will do with you.

¹¹ Keep you that which I myself command you today.

For I will evict from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and Prizite, and the Hivite and the Jebusite.^{[47] 12} Keep you lest you will forge a pact with the settlers of the land which you are coming to, lest they will be a snare within you. ¹³ Because you shalt smash their alters, and you shalt break their monuments, and you shalt uproot their cultic poles.^{[48] [49]}

¹⁴ Because you will not bow down to another god, because Yahweh is jealous of his name, he is a jealous god.^{[50] 15} Lest you forge a pact with the dwellers of the land; and when they whore after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, they will call to you, and you will eat from his altar. ¹⁶ And you take of his daughters [as wives] for your sons, and his daughters will whore after their gods, and they cause your sons whore after their gods.^[51]

¹⁷ You must not make molded gods.

¹⁸ Keep the holiday of unleaven bread, seven days eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, the event at the month of Aviv, because in the month of Aviv you came out of Egypt.

¹⁹ All that breaks opens a womb, and all your male livestock you must set aside, first birth a bull and a sheep. ²⁰ And first birth of donkeys redeem with a sheep, and if you don't redeem it, break its neck. All your firstborn sons, redeem. Do not see my face empty-handed.^[52]

²¹ Six days will you work, and on the seventh day break. Of the plowing and the reaping you must break.

²² And the holiday of weeks make for you, the first of the harvest of wheat, and the holiday of gathering the whole of the year's. ²³ Three times a year, all your males will show themselves before the lord Yahweh, god of Israel.^{[53] 24} Because I will disenfrachise nations from before you, and I will expand your borders, and no man will covet your land, as you go up before Yahweh your lord, three times a year.

²⁵ You will not slaughter the blood of my altar on leavened bread, and it will not be kept for the morning, the sacrifice of the holiday of passover.

²⁶ The first prime yields of your land bring to the house of Yahweh your god.

You will not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.¶

²⁷ And Yahweh said to Moses:

Write down these things for yourself, because by means of these words I have have forged the covenant with you and with Israel.

²⁸ And he was there with Yahweh forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread, and he did not drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten items.

²⁹ And it was as Moses came down from mount Sinai, and the two tablets of the testimony in Moses's hands as he came down the mountain, and Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone, as he spoke with him.

³⁰ And Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, and here is the shine of the skin of his face, and they were afraid to approach him. ³¹ And Moses called to them, and they returned to him, Aaron and all the testimony holders, and Moses spoke to them. ³² And afterward, they approached all the sons of Israel, and he commanded them of all that Yahweh had told him on mount Sinai.

³³ And moses ceased speaking with them, and he put a veil on his face. ³⁴ and in Moses coming before Yahweh, to speak to him, he would remove the veil, until he left. And he left and he spoke to the sons of Israel, that which will be commanded.

³⁵ And the sons of Israel saw the face of Moses, that it shone, the skin of Moses's face. And Moses replaced the veil on his face, until he would come to talk to Him.

Chapter 35

¹ And Moses gathered all the congregation of the sons of Israel and said to them:

These are the things, those which yahweh commanded to do: ² Six days make your work, and on the seventh day you will have a holy sabbath break for Yahweh. All that does work then will be put to death. ³ You will not burn a fire in all your settlements on the sabbath day.

⁴ And Moses said to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying: ⁵

This is the thing that Yahweh commanded, saying:

⁶ "Take from yourselves a donation, for Yahweh, all the generous of heart will bring it, Yahweh's donation: gold and silver and copper, ⁷ snd cyan and magenta and knits, and shesh, and goat-hair, ⁸ snd reddened ram-skins and sealskins^[32] and acacia wood, ⁹ and lighting oil, and perfumes for the annointing oil, and for the fragrant incense, ¹⁰ and onyx stones, and setting stones, for the Ephod and the breastplate.

¹¹ And all the wise of heart within you, will come and will make all which Yahweh has commanded.

¹² The dwelling, its tent and its covering and its supports and its planks, its bars, its posts, and its sockets. ¹³ The crate, and its beams, the cover and the screening curtain. ¹⁴ The table and its fabric, and all its implements, and the showbread. ¹⁵ And the lighting lamp, and its implements, and its lights, and the lighting oil. ¹⁶ And the altar of incenses, and its fabrics, and the annointing oil, and the fragrant incense, the washbasin and its stem. ¹⁷ The hangings of the courtyard, its columns and its sockets^[54], and the screen for the courtyard gate. ¹⁸ The pegs of the dwelling, and the pegs of the courtyard, and their cords. ¹⁹ The pleated cloths, for sacred service. The holy clothes for Aaron the priest and his sons' clothes, for ministering."

²⁰ And all the congregation of the sons of Israel exited from before Moses.

²¹ And they came. Each man whose heart impelled him, and each whose spirit filled him with generosity, brought a donation to Yahweh, for the crafting of the tent of events, and all its work, and for the holy clothes. ²² And the men, over the women, came, all the generous of heart, brought clasp and nosering, and ring and vulva-cover, all gold implements, and every man who lifted a wave-offering of gold for Yahweh.^{[55] 23} And every man who possessed cyan and magenta, knits and oddfeel shesh, or goatskin, or reddened ram-skins, or sealskins^[32], brought it. ²⁴ All that lifted up a donation of silver and copper, brought to Yahweh's donation. And all that possessed acacia wood, for all the craft work, brought it.

²⁵ And every wise-hearted woman spun with her hands, and they brought spun the cyan and the magenta cloth, the knits and the oddfeel shesh. ²⁶ And all the women whose heard impelled them with wisdom, spun the goat-hair.

²⁷ And the holders brought the onyx stones and the setting stones for the Ephod and the breastplate. ²⁸ And the perfume and the oils, for light, and the annointing oil, for the fragrant incense.

²⁹ Every man and woman whose heart filled with generosity, to bring for all the crafting which Yahweh commanded through Moses to do--- the sons of Israel brought donation for Yahweh.

³⁰ And Moses said to the sons of Israel:

See, Yahweh called Betzalel son of Uri son of Chur by name, for the staff of Judah.

³¹ And the spirit of God will fill him with wisdom and learning and knowledge, and in every craft. ³² And to reckon plans, to make of gold and of silver and of copper. ³³ And in cutting setting-stones, and in wood harvesting, to do any design work.

³⁴ And to Horath, in his heart, he gave, him and Ahaliav son of Achisamach, for the staff of Dan. ³⁵ He filled them with wisdom of heart to do all the work of craftsman and designer, and of a weaver of cyan and magenta, and knits and oddfeel shesh, doing all crafts and reckoning all designs.

Chapter 36

¹ And Betsalel did, and Ahaliav, and every wise-hearted man, those to whom Yahweh gave wisdom and learning, to know how to do all the sacred craft work, as everything that Yahweh commanded.

² And Moses called to Betsalel and to Ahaliav and to every wise-hearted man, that Yahweh gave wisdom in his heart, all who's heart impelled them, to make the work their own, to do. ³ And they took from before Moses all the donations that the sons of Israel brought for the sacred craft work, to do it.

And they brought for it more donations, next morning and next morning.

⁴ And they came, all the experts, who did all the holy craft, man and man to his own craft, as they do. ⁵ And they said to Moses, saying: "The people are bringing more than for the crafting work, that which Yahweh commanded to do." ⁶ And Moses commanded, and they spread the word in the camp, saying: "Man and woman will not get any more craft material for the sacred donations." And the people ceased bringing. ⁷ And the craft material was enough for all the craft, to do it, and there was left over.

⁸ And all the wise-hearted in doing craft made them, the dwelling, ten drapes, shesh, and cyan and magenta, and knits, griffins--- thoughtfully done.

⁹ The length of one drape eighteen cubits, and the width four cubits, the one drape. One measure for all the drapes. ¹⁰ And he joined the five drapes one to the other, and five drapes connected one to the other. ¹¹ And he made cyan loops on the lip of the one drape, on the edge of the cluster; thus he did on the lip of the drape, the extreme one in the second cluster. ¹² He made fifty loops in one drape, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the drape which was in the second cluster. The loops were aligned one to the other. ¹³ And he made fifty gold clasps, and he joined the drapes one to the other with the clasps, and the dwelling was united.

¹⁴ And he made drapes of goatskin for the tent over the dwelling, eleven drapes, he made them. ¹⁵ The length of one drape was thirty cubits, and four cubits the width of one drape. One measure for the eleven drapes. ¹⁶ And he joined the five drapes separately and the six drapes separately. ¹⁷ And he made loops, fifty, on the lip of the extreme drape of the cluster, and he made fifty loops on the lip of the drape of the second cluster. ¹⁸ And he made clasps of copper, fifty, to join the tent, to be one.

¹⁹ And he made the tent covering of reddened ram-skins, and a cover of sealskins^[32] from above.

²⁰ And he made the planks for the dwelling, acacia trees, standing. ²¹ Ten cubits the length of the plank, and one and half cubit the width of one plank. ²² And two plugs for one plank, crossed one against the other. Thus he made all the planks of the dwelling.

²³ And he made the planks for the dwelling--- twenty planks facing Negev-Teiman(south). ²⁴ And he made forty silver sockets towards the twenty planks, two sockets for this plank, for its two plugs, and two sockets for that plank, for its two plugs.

²⁵ And for the second side of the dwelling, towards north, he made twenty planks. ²⁶ And their forty sockets silver, two sockets under this plank, and two sockets under that plank.

²⁷ And for the hind part of the dwelling, westward, he made six planks. ²⁸ And he made two planks for the corners of the dwelling, on the hind part. ²⁹ And they were twins from below, and together the were twins to its head. To the one ring, thus he did for the two, to the two corners.

³⁰ And there were eight planks, and their sockets silver, sixteen sockets, two sockets each, two sockets under the one plank.

³¹ And he made bolts of acacia wood--- five, for the planks of the one edge of the dwelling. ³² And five bolts for the planks of the second edge of the dwelling. And five bolts for the planks of the hind edge of the dwelling, west. ³³ And he made the middle bolt pass through the plank, from one edge to the other. ³⁴ And the planks he plated gold, and their rings he made gold, houses for the bolts. And he plated the bolts gold.

³⁵ and he made the curtain, cyan and magenta and knits and oddfeel shesh. He wrought it thoughtfully, with griffins. ³⁶ And he made for it four columns of acacia, and plated them gold, their hooks gold, and he cast for them four silver sockets.

³⁷ And he made a screen for the tent's opening, cyan and magenta and knits and oddfeel shesh, embroidery work. ³⁸ And its columns five and their hooks, and he plated their top and their sides gold, and their five sockets copper.

Chapter 37

¹ And Betsalel made the crate acacia wood: its length two cubits and a half, its width one cubit and a half, and its height one cubit and a half. ² And he plated it pure gold, from within and without, and he made a golden crown for it, around.

³ And he cast for it four golden rings on its four feet, and two rings on its one edge, and two rings on its other edge. ⁴ And he made beams of acacia wood, and plated them gold. ⁵ And he brought the beams into the rings, on the sides of the crate, to carry the crate.

⁶ And he made a cover, pure gold. Its length two cubits and a half and its width a cubit and a half. ⁷ And he made two griffins, gold. He made them beaten-metal from the two edges of the cover. ⁸ One griffin from this side, and one griffin from that side. He made the griffins from the cover itself, from its two sides. ⁹ And the griffins were spreading their wings upwards, sheltering the crate with thier wings, and their faces, one against his brother. The faces of the griffins were on the cover.¶

¹⁰ And he made the table, acacia wood. Its length two cubits, and its width a cubit, and its height one cubit and a half. ¹¹ And he plated it pure gold, and he made it a gold crown, around. ¹² And he made it a frame of a hand's breadth, around, and made a gold crown for its frame, around. ¹³ And he cast for himself four gold rings. And he placed the rings on the four peoth which are on the four legs.

¹⁴ Against the frame were the rings, holders for the beams for carrying the table. ¹⁵ And he made the beams acacia wood, and he plated them gold, for carrying the table. ¹⁶ And he made the implements which are on the table, Its pots and its bowls and its clearing-tools and its jars, with which it would be set, of pure gold.¶

¹⁷ And he made the lamp(menorah) pure gold. He made the lamp beaten metal, its arc and its stem--- its cups, its knobs, and its flowers are one with it. ¹⁸ And six branches leave its sides, three menorah branches on the one side, and three menorah branches on the other side. ¹⁹ Three almond-blossom shaped cups on one branch, a knob and a flower, and three almond-blossom shaped cups on the other branch, a knob and a flower, thus for the six branches that leave the menorah.

²⁰ And in the menorah itself four cups, almond-blossom shaped its knobs and its flowers. ²¹ And a knob under two branches from it, and a knob under another two branches from it, and a knob under the other two branches from it--- for the six branches that leave it. ²² Their knobs and their branches were one with it, all of it one beaten work of pure gold.

²³ And he made her lamps seven, and their ladles and reservoirs pure gold. ²⁴ From a talent of pure gold he made it, and all its implements.

²⁵ Ans he made the incense altar acacia wood: its length a cubit, and its width a cubit, a square, and two cubits its height. From itself were its horns. ²⁶ And he plated it pure gold, its roof and its walls around, and its horns, and he made for it a gold crown, around ²⁷ And he made for it two gold rings, under its arms, on its two edges, on its two sides, for housing the beams to carry it with. ²⁸ And he made the beams acacia wood, and he plated them gold.

²⁹ And he made the anointing oil, sacred, and the fragrant incense, pure, as the work of a potion-maker.

Chapter 38

¹ And he made the offering altar of acacia wood: its length five cubits and its width five cubits, a square, and its height three cubits.^{[56] 2} And he made its emanations on its four corners, its emanations were one of itself, and he coated it copper.

³ And he made all the implements of the altar, the pots and the spatulas, and the basins and the carving forks, and the fire pans, all its implements he made copper.

⁴ And he made the altar a grating, made of a net of copper, under its ledge from below, until its midpoint. ⁵ And he cast four rings, on the four corners, for the copper net, housing for beams. ⁶ Ans he made the beams, acacia wood, and he plated them copper. ⁷ And he brought the beams into the rings, on the edges of the altar, to carry it with. Of boards, hollow, he made it.•

⁸ And he made the basin copper, and its stem copper--- in the sight of the staffwomen who staffed the entry of the tent of events.•

⁹ And he made the courtyard: facing Negev-Teiman(south) the drapes of the courtyard, oddfeel shesh, one hundred cubits. ¹⁰ Their columns were twenty, and their sockets twenty, of copper. The hooks of the columns and their fillets silver.

¹⁸ And the screen at the gate of the courtyard, embroidery work. Cyan and magenta and knits, and oddfeel shesh, and its length twenty cubits, and its height, of its width, five cubits, as against the drapes of the courtyard.

¹⁹ And their columns were four, and their sockets four, of copper. their sockets silver, and their heads and fillets silver. ²⁰ And all the pegs for the dwelling and the courtyard around were copper.•

²¹ Those were the commands for the dwelling, the dwelling for the testimony, which were commanded by Moses. The were the work of the Levites, under the hand of Eitamar, son of Aaron the Priest. ²² And Betsalel son of Uri son of Chur, of the staff of Judah, did all that Yahweh commanded of Moses. ²³ And with him was Ahaliav son of Achisamach, of the staff of Dan, craftsman and designer, and embroidary in cyan and magenta, and knits and oddfeel shesh.

²⁴ All the gold which was made for crafting all the holy craft work, and it was the gold of the wave-offering, twenty nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, by the holy standard shekel.

²⁵ And the silver of the congregation's command was one hundred talents, and one thousand and seven hundred and fifty seven shekels, by the holy standard shekel. ²⁶ One beka' per head, half a shekel, as the holy standard shekel, for all that passes the command, from twenty years of age and up, for six hundred and three thousand five-hundred and fifty. ²⁷ And it was a hundred talents of silver, to cast the holy sockets and the sockets of the curtain, one hundred talents for the one hundred sockets, a talent per socket.^[57]\ ²⁸ And from the one-thousand seven-hundred and fifty-seven, he made hooks for the columns, and plated their heads and filleted them.

²⁹ And the copper of the wave-offering was seventy talents, and two-thousand four-hundred shekel. ³⁰ And he made with it the sockets of the opening of the tent of events, and the copper altar, and the copper grating which it has, and all the implements of the altar. ³¹ And the sockets of the courtyard, around, and the sockets of the yard's gate, and all the pegs of the dwelling, and all the pegs of the courtyard around it.

Chapter 39

¹ And from the cyan and magenta and knits, they made pleated garments for holy service. And they made the holy clothing, which are for Aaron, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

² And he made the Ephod gold and cyan and magenta and knits and oddfeel shesh. ³ And they beat the gold plates, and they cut strings, to put within the cyan and within the magenta, and within the knits and within the shesh--- thoughtful work. ⁴ They made shoulder pads for it, connected, on its two edges joined. ⁵ And the design of his Ephod as it were for him, its work was of itself, gold, cyan and magenta, and knits, and oddfeel shesh, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.

⁶ And they made the onyx stones surrounded by gold checkers, engraved with engraver's marks, with the names of the sons of Israel. ⁷ And he put them on the shoulder-pads of the Ephod--- memorial stones for the sons of Israel, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

⁸ And he made the breastplate, thoughtful work, as the Ephod was made: gold and cyan and magenta and knits and oddfeel shesh. ⁹ It was a square doubled-over, they made the breastplate. Its length was a span, and its width a span, doubled.

¹⁰ And they filled it with rows of stone. A row of carnelian, topaz and smaragd, the one row. ¹¹ And the second row, a carbuncle, a sapphire and an emerald. ¹² And the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amathyst. ¹³ And the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. Their settings which they filled were checkers of gold. ¹⁴ And the stones were for the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, as their names. Engraved each with his name, for the twelve tribes.

¹⁵ And on the breastplate, they made a twisted chain, made by a wreather, pure gold. ¹⁶ And they made two gold checkers and two gold rings. And they placed the two rings on the two edges of the breastplate. ¹⁷ And they put the two wreathes of gold on the two rings on the edge of the breastplate. ¹⁸ And the two edges of the two wreathes, they put on the two checkers, and they placed them on the Ephod's shoulder-pads, facing its front.

¹⁹ And they made two gold rings, and they put them on the two edges of the breastplate, on its edge, which is toward the Ephod, inward. ²⁰ And they made two gold rings, and they placed them on the two shoulder-pads of the Ephod, from below facing forward, facing its connection, from above the design of the Ephod. ²¹ And they bound the breastplate to the Ephod's rings with cyan string, to be on the design of the Ephod. And the breastplate will not sag from above the Ephod, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.¶

²² And he made the cloak of the Ephod, weaver's work, all of cyan. ²³ And the opening of the cloak as mail, the edge of its opening around will not rip.

²⁴ And they made on the edges of the coat pomegranates of cyan and magenta and knits, wrought cloth. ²⁵ And they made pure gold bells, and they placed the bells within the pomegranates, on the edge of the cloak around, within the pomegranates. ²⁶ Pomegranate and bell, pomegranate and bell, on the edge of the cloak around, to serve, as Yahweh commanded Moses.•

²⁷ And they made the robe shesh, weaver's work, for Aaron and his sons. ²⁸ And the turban shesh, and the fancy head-coverings, shesh, and the cloth pants, shesh. ²⁹ And the girdle, oddfeel shesh, and cyan and magenta and knits--- embroidary work, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.

³⁰ And they made the base of the holy crown pure gold, and they wrote on it, as an engraver's writing, "holy for Yahweh". ³¹ And they put on it a cyan string, to put on the turban from above, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.•

³² And all the work of the tent of events was completed, and the sons of Israel did as all that Yahweh commanded of Moses. So they did.

³³ And they brought the dwelling to Moses, the tent and all its implements, its clasps, its planks, its bolts, and its columns and its sockets. ³⁴ And the reddened ram-skin cover, and the sealskin^[32] cover, and the screening curtain. ³⁵ The crate of the testimony, and its beams, and the cover. ³⁶ The table, with all its implements, and the showbread. ³⁷ The pure menorah, its lights, the lights of services, and all its implements, and the lighting oil. ³⁸ and the gold altar, and the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense, and the screen for the opening of the tent. ³⁹ The copper altar, and the copper screen for it, its beams and all its implements, the basin and its implements. ⁴⁰ The drapes of the courtyard, its columns, and its sockets, and the screen for the courtyard gate, and its cords, and its pegs, and all the implements for the work of the dwelling--- for the tent of events. ⁴¹ The pleated clothes, to serve in the holies, the holy clothes for Aaron the priest and the clothes of his sons, for ministering.

⁴² As all that Yahweh commanded of Moses, thus the sons of Israel did, all the work. ⁴³ And Moses saw all the work, and look, they did it--- as Yahweh commanded, so they did. And Moses blessed them.

Chapter 40

¹ And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

² On the day of the first month, on the first of the month, raise the dwelling of the tent of events.

³ And you put there the crate of the testimony, and you sheltered the crate with the cover.

⁴ And you brought the table, and you set its settings, and you brought the menorah, and you lit up its lamps.

⁵ And you placed the gold altar, for incense, in front of the crate of the testimony, and you put the screen of the opening on the dwelling. ⁶ and you placed the altar of sacrifices in front of the opening of the dwelling, the tent of events.

⁷ And you placed the basin between the tent of the events and between the altar, and you placed water there.

⁸ And you place the courtyard around, and you place the screen for the opening of the courtyard.

⁹ And you take the anointing oil and you anoint the dwelling and all which is in it. And you blessed it, and all its implements, and it became holy.

¹⁰ And you anointed the altar of offerings, and all its implements, and you blessed the altar, and the altar became holiest of holy.

¹¹ And you anoint the basin, and its reed, and you blessed it.

¹² And you have Aaron and his sons approach the opening of the tent of events, and you washed them in the water. ¹³ And you dressed Aaron with the holy clothes, and you anointed him, and blessed him, and he was priest to me.

¹⁴ And you will have his sons approach, and you dressed them in robes. ¹⁵ And you anointed them, as you anointed their father, and they were priests to me. And it will be, their being anointed, their eternal priesthood, in their generations.

¹⁶ And Moses did. As all that Yahweh commanded him, so he did.•

¹⁷ And it was in the first month of the second year, on the first of the month, that the dwelling was erected. ¹⁸ And Moses erected the dwelling, and he placed its sockets, and he placed its planks, and he placed its bolts, and he erected its columns

¹⁹ And he unfurled the tent over the dwelling, and he placed the tent cover over it, from above, as Yahweh commanded Moses.•

²⁰ And he took and he gave the testimony to Aaron, and he placed the beams on the crate, and he placed the cover over the crate, from above.

²¹ And he brought Aaron to the dwelling, and he placed the screening curtain, and it screened the crate of the testimony, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.•

²² And he placed the table in the tent of events, on the hind part of the dwelling, northward, outside the curtain. ²³ And he set on it a setting of bread, before Yahweh, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.(S)

²⁴ And he placed the menorah in the tent of events, abutting the table, in the hind part of the dwelling, Negev-ward(south). ²⁵ And he lit the lights before Yahweh, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.•

²⁶ And he placed the gold altar in the tent of events, in front of the curtain. ²⁷ And he burned on it fragrant incense, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.•

²⁸ And he placed the screen for the opening, on the dwelling. ²⁹ and the offering altar there, at the opening of the tent of events. And he raised upon it the raised offering and the meal offering, As Yahweh commanded of Moses.•

³⁰ And he placed the basin between the tent of events and the altar, and he placed water there, for washing. ³¹ And in it they washed, Moses and Aaron and his sons, their hands and their feet, ³² In coming to the tent of events, and it approaching the altar, they would wash, as Yahweh commanded of Moses.•

³³ And he erected the courtyard around the dwelling and the altar, and he placed the screen of the courtyard's gate. And Moses completed the tasks.¶

³⁴ And the cloud covered the tent of events, and Yahweh's honor filled the dwelling. ³⁵ And Moses could not come to the tent of events, because the cloud dwelt upon it, and Yahweh's honor filled the dwelling.

³⁶ And the cloud's lifted from the dwelling, the sons of Israel drove off in all their journeys. ³⁷ And were the cloud not to lift, then they would not drive off, until the day it would lift.

³⁸ Because Yahweh's cloud was upon the dwelling, daily, and fire would be there nights, in sight of all the sons of Israel, in all their journeys.§

The word הָאָבְנָיִם which I translated as "paired rocks" literally means "pair of rocks", but is obviously an ancient form of birthing gear, possibly two rocks used as stirrups, but that's a guess. It is usually translated as "birthstool", which gives a different connotation of a wooden stool and an indoor birth.
2. (1:17) feared God - the term יראת אלוהים, generally translated as "fear of God", refers to a moral sense and not to anything religious.
3. (1:19) animals - the word in Hebrew (חיות) has alternatively been interpreted as "vigorous".
4. The story is deriving the name "Moshe" from the hebrew root "Mashat"(draw out), but it should be pointed out that "Moshe" is the ancient Egyptian word for "water".

55. This is a badly constructed sentence, since the lifting-men at the end were not brought by the generous-of-heart-men at the beginning. This is the way it is in Hebrew. Women are not supposed to donate to the temple, so the beginning might be an edit from ויּבאו הנּשים, "And the woman brought", which would make the last part make sense.
56. It seems that the offering altar was used for burnt offerings at times. It should be verified whether "olot" refers to burnt offerings, or any offerings.
57. This makes each sockets as big as the menorah, which was as big as a person in the Roman illustration of the sacking of Jerusalem. A talent seems like a huge amount, a pound of metal at least. This passage doesn't feel right, then. What am I missing?
