This photo was taken in 1946 at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics at Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. J.J. Lankes worked there as head of technical illustrating from 1943-1950. The photo has been in possession of the Lankes family for many years and has been reproduced in educational and editorial materials. This particular version of the photo was scanned from the original photo by me. The photographer's name in unknown. NACA became NASA in 1958, which is why I chose "Original Work of NASA" as the licensing option
