Image from Oriental Scenery. he Fakeer's Rock is one of the most sacred places of pilgrimage on the Ganges, as here was believed to be the residence of the hermit Jahnu who swallowed up the Ganges. There is a temple dedicated to Brahma on the top of a high rock and four small temples below. Figures of Siva and Visnu and other deities were sculpted in relief on the rocks in the 8th Century.
