Summary

Description
English: Fig. 33.—Pineal Eye of Ammocœtes, with its Ganglion Habenulæ.

On the left side the eye is drawn as it appeared in the section. On the right side I (WHG) have removed the pigment from the nerve end-cells, and drawn the eye as, in my opinion, it would appear if it were functional.

(All references in this work to Ammocœtes or Petromyzon appear to refer to the species now called Lampetra planeri.)
