Description Tenniel's illustration of Alice's black kitten from Through the Looking Glass. The authors names are found amidst the image, at lower left and right.
Date Publication 1881 (1892)
Source Original scan of The Library 2nd edition by Andrew Lang made available at archive.org online viewer. The image was rotated and given a crop. The white point was greatly reduced, to around 50%, and a touch of black added. It still looks wrong! I didn't upload the original because a better scan may be available at archive.org, but couldn't resist this one.
Author John Tenniel, Brothers Dalziel (engraving)
