Private Rites Held For Otto Kotouc Sr.

Humboldt — Private graveside services were held here Wednesday for Otto Kotouc Sr., 88, prominent longtime Humboldt banker and former member of the Nebraska Legislature.
Mr. Kotouc died Tuesday in a Humboldt hospital after a long illness.
A native of Humboldt, Mr. Kotouc was the recipient in 1958 of the Nebraska Builder Award for distinguished service to the University of Nebraska. In 1970, the university gave him an honorary doctor of humanities degree. Graduated from NU in 1908, he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Serving in the old Nebraska House of Represntatives for two terms, 1909 and 1911, Mr. Kotouc later was elected to four terms in the Unicameral, starting in 1951.
A former president of the Nebraska Bankers Association, he headed the campaign it conducted to help raise matching funds to buid the Nebraska Center for Continuing Education
He had been active in the work of the University of Nebraska Foundation and had served as chairman of the Czech Pioneer Memorial Student Loan Fund.
Mr. Kotouc was co-founder of the Home State Bank of Humbold and was serving as chairman of the bank board at the time of his death.
Surving are his wife, Camille; one son, Otto Jr. of Humboldt; five gradnchildren and three great grandchildren.
