"Fashion—Our Ally"
IN our April number we touched in a somewhat prophetic way on the coming of those lines of beauty which have so long, been carefully suppressed or hidden in favour of the straight boysh effect.
The Cartoon was designed to show that we are looking and listening for every indication from whatsoever source, of any definite changes in fashion decrees.
For several years there has been a tendency to belittle the need of figure training garments, and this was more particularly pronounced when the tubular or sheath type of outer clothing was the prevailing mode.
The rebellion of womankind against anything in the nature of restriction and the whole reaction in favour of comfort and freedom, brought in its train quite a number of enthusiasts who thought they could dispense with any sort of foundation garment, but as time went on there has commenced, as we all of us confidently expected, a swing back towards at least the partial revealing of the natural curves of the figure. Those dictators of Women's Styles whose activities in the Fashion Centres of the world are reflected in every civilised country, have decided that the boyish straight line is out of date, and the recognition of this is to be found in the more decided shapeliness of the latest models of gowns and other clothing designed by the Fashion Artist.
Coats, skirts and blouses are coming back, and here, if you like, is proof positive that the curve is to be recognised.
Just consider for a moment what a definite, far-reaching and vital effect on the Corset Industry as a whole this will necessarily entail.
Through all the years Spirella with its adaptability to the needs of the moment, has not merely catered for the demands made by the vogue of the moment, but has contrived to build into designs which would satisfy the dictates of style, those features of uplift and support, which have been of such infinite service to the health and comfort of Spirella Wearers.
Corsets, as such, have given place to more modified garments; but the essentials have still been observed, so that for Spirella the return of the curve is welcome because it must necessarily double and treble the demand for figure training garments appropriate to the current need, and thus there will be proportionate benefit to every Spirella Corsetiere.
