THE SPIRELLA MAGAZINE

The Trend of Fashion.

Under this heading we propose to quote from time to time extracts from current Periodicals and other Authoritative announcements on Fashion's Trend, in the hope that these will be of use to all Corsetieres in their Sales Talks with the women of their districts.

In our last month's issue we stated that there was definite evidence of a return to the natural beauty curve—not an exaggerated and accentuated curve created by harmful compression, but the naturally beautiful lines of the normal figure.

The extracts quoted here will prove that this was not a mere supposition, or that "the wish was father to the thought." It is a definite move which opens up tremendous possibilities for the Spirella Corsetiere, and everyone should be alive to the opportunity thus created.

CORSETS FOR EVERY TYPE. "Modern fashion demands that the corsets be true to type rather than made to compress every figure into one conventional silhouette." (The Tatler.)

SPRING CORSET STYLES. "The new corset models designed to wear under spring and summer gowns are still made to give a slim effect to the figure. They are a little more feminine, however, and are not so obviously striving after a flat, 'boyish' silhouette. The natural curves of the figure are softened rather than flattened; the waist remains perfectly natural, and the length and skilful boning of the corset at the back makes for a smooth unbroken line from the hips downward. . . . It is, of course, most important to have one's corsets fitted as carefully as one's dresses." (Manchester Dispatch.)

CORSETS TO SUIT THE FIGURE. "Nowadays there is no need to worry whether or not you have the fashionable figure, for modern corsetry has become such a specialised art that no problem is too difficult. Corsets, for instance; do not aim to compress everyone into a uniform straight line, but a careful study of every type and its individual requirements is the basis of their designs, governed by laws of hygiene, comfort and the present fashion." (The Sketch.)

BIGGER DEMAND FOR CORSETS. "The Season opens with a bigger move as regards corsets than has been experienced for some considerable time, and the orders booked are far away in advance of those for last Spring. . . . There is a decided feeling for corselets that are more shaped to the figure and have more bones at the back." (Drapers' Record.)

THE BLOUSE AND SKIRT AGAIN. "The blouse worn under the skirt has come into its own again. Some of the new frocks are made mounted on to blouse tops. Others have their skirts made to button on to the top part, whilst other skirts are finished off with braces of the same material to wear over a blouse, the braces taking away the blouse and skirt idea." (Glasgow Evening News.)
