choice of project

[edit]

Other than the signatures, do we need to host the non-english text at en.wp? - Theornamentalist (talk) 23:21, 1 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

You mean en.ws? chr.ws does not exist, and chr.wp needs to be revitalised: w:chr:ᏫᎩᏇᏗᏯ:ᎾᎥ_ᏄᎾᏓᎸ_ᎾᎿᎢ Arlo Barnes (talk) 00:20, 16 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

typos

[edit]

This appears to be chock-full of typos. I don't want to correct it because I do not read Cherokee, and am not familiar with the script, but I find the following diffs in the intro. Two letters are wrong, three are missing. (Question marks are letters I can't read in the ms, though the current version is consistent with what I can make out.)

Ꭱ(?)ᏥᎸᏉᏗᏳ ᏗᏕ(?)ᏚᎿᎢ ᏥᎳᏫᎽ, ᎠᎴ ᎡᏥᎸᏗᏳ ᎢᏥᏴᎵᎨᎢ ᏩᏥᏂ ᎾᏅᎾᏛ ᎨᏥᏁᏤᎸᎯ ᏗᏥᎳᏦᏅᎯ, ᎢᏣᏛᎪᏗ, ᎯᎠ ᎪᏪᎵ ᏨᏅᎥᏏ.

Later there are entire lines missing.

I think the first letter is right. But another in the third word is wrong -

ᎡᏥᎸᏉᏗᏳ ᏗᏕᏚᎿᎢ ᏥᎳᏫ, ᎠᎴ ᎡᏥᎸᏗᏳ ᎢᏥᏴᎵᎨᎢ ᏩᏥᏂ ᎾᏅᎾᏛ ᎨᏥᏁᏤᎸᎯ ᏗᏥᎳᏦᏅᎯ, ᎢᏣᏛᎪᏗ, ᎯᎠ ᎪᏪᎵ ᏨᏅᎥᏏ.

Ben Frey made an independent transcription, but that also included some typos. I reviewed where it differed from the existing text, and usually accepted but occasionally rejected his version. In some cases the distinction is not clear and will require a judgement based on the reading, but some of those judgements will be difficult. Also, if both our uploader and Frey misread a letter the same way, for most paragraphs it has not been double checked. And I know that some of my judgements must be wrong. So even though this text has been gone over by 3 ppl so far, IMO it still does not qualify as 'validated'. Kwamikagami (talk) 21:05, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Intro and para 3 (Ꭷ ᏣᏓᏂᎵᎨ ...) are correct

[edit]

There are a few places where the ms does not match modern Cherokee, but they're unlikely to be typos / die substitutions. Kwamikagami (talk) 22:49, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
