"The Star", popularly known as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", was first published in Jane and Ann Taylor's Rhymes for the Nursery (1806). It is sung to the tune of the French melody "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman", which was published in 1761. It has a Roud Folk Song Index number of 7666 and has many adaptations around the world.
