Who Will Fare with Me?

By Winifred Virginia Jordan

Oh, who will fare afar with me?Oh, who will fare with me?We’ll tread the green and happy land,We’ll sail the salt blue sea!And east and west and north and southWe’ll take the trail away,And always with Tomorrow holdThe joys of Yesterday!
We’ll take the Trail of Dreamers outAcross the leagues of dew; We’ll pass where grand green willows leanIn bonnets silv’ry blue. We’ll play with young white violetsIn velvet pinafores,Just taken, sweetly scented, fromA May-elf’s woodland drawers.
We’ll take the Trail of Dreamers, thatIs gay with bloom begun; And as we’re faring onward weWill sail a sea of sun; We’ll find our way to shaded woodWhere pools lie, still and deep,And tease from them the secrets thatWe know they cannot keep.
We’ll take the Trail of Dreamers toThe minstrel folk of dream; We’ll beg their charm that we may hearThe fairy singing stream; We’ll hear the jolly river windSing songs it learn’d at sea,A-rollicking with fantasiesAs sweet as sweet can be.
We’ll take the Trail of Dreamers onAn hour that’s all our own,When hope’s glad thrilling kisses areUpon the skyways blown; And love will fare on with us, andWill shield from stress and strife,And grant the gift of happinessTo bless us into life!
'Oh, who will fare afar with me?Oh, who will fare with me?We’ll tread the green and happy land,We’ll sail the salt blue sea!And east and west and north and southWell take the trail away,And always will Tomorrow holdThe joys of Yesterday!
