Whether the blessings and blasts are separable |
אם הברכות ותקיעות מעכבות זו את זו |
593:1[edit]The blessings of [the Mussaf Amidah of] Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are not separable. If somebody does not know all of them, they should not say what they know but should instead not say any of them. |
סעיף א ברכות של ראש השנה ויום הכיפורים מעכבות זו את זו שאם אינו יודע כולם לא יאמר מה שיודע מהם אלא לא יאמר כלום: |
593:2[edit]Similarly, the blasts are not separable. This applies to somebody who only knows part of a set. Such a person should not just do the part they know. However, tekiah-shevarim-teruah-tekiah, tekiah-shevarim-tekiah, and tekiah-teruah-tekiah are separable. If somebody knows how to do one or two of [the three], they should do that. Rem"a: However, the blessings [of the Amidah] are separable from the blasts and the blasts are separable from the blessings. [If somebody only knows one of the two], they should do what they know (Tur). Similarly, the order [of the blessings relative to the blasts] is not absolutely necessary (Ra"n the end of Rosh Hashanah); if somebody prayed before they sounded the shofar, they have fulfilled their obligation. |
סעיף ב וכן תקיעות מעכבות זו את זו והני מילי שאינו יודע אלא מקצת הסימן שלא יעשה אותו מקצת שיודע אבל תשר"ת תש"ת תר"ת אין מעכבין זה את זה ואם ידע לעשות אחד מהם או שנים עושה: הגה אבל הברכות אין מעכבין התקיעות וכן התקיעות אינן מעכבין הברכות ואיזה מהם שיודע יעשה (טור) וכן סדרן אינו מעכב (ר"ן סוף ר"ה) ואם התפלל קודם שתקע יצא: |
