BARTHOLDY, Jacob Salomon, of a Jewish family, born at Berlin 1779, died in Rome 1825, a Prussian diplomatist, and author of an important article in the Berlin 'Musikalischer Zeitung' for 1805, 'Ueber den Volksgesang der Sicilianer.'
