MAHER-SHALAL-HASH-BAZ. A son of Isaiah. His name, which means speed-spoil, was given by Divine revelation, as a token that the “'child should not have knowledge to cry, my father, and my mother, before the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria."
It is this incident that appears in the Book of Mormon in Nephi's quotations from the writings of Isaiah, (II Nephi, 18:1—4).
