מזמז (Pilp. of מזז) to soften. Nithpalp. נתמזמז to be softened. Hull. c45bפסול נתמסמס כשר if the spinal cord is a pulpy mass, the animal is unft, if merely softened,iit is fit for food(hasher). Tosef. iib. III,11 מוחה נתמזמזהkש an animal whose brain is softened; quot- ed Hull.l. c. וכ׳ שנתמומז בהמה, and corrected into נתמסמס. Ib. (in Chald. dict.) דדין מוחיה ׳ this man's brain is softened.
מזמז, Ithpalp.אתמזמז, אתמזמיז ch. same. Targ.Y. I Gen. XXXIII, 4דאתמזעיז which became soft (that they could not bite). Targ. Job XXVVI, 5 מתמזמזין softened (decayed in the ground).

מזר (sec. r. of זור, זרר) to twist yarn. Sot. VI, 1 עד בלבנה מוזרות. . שישאו until the women twisting yarn by moonsbine talk of her; ib. 6b. Y. ib. VI, beg. 20d תנינן אנן וכ׳ מוזרות . אית מוצרות we read mots'roth, some read mog'roth; he who reads mots'roth עמר מצרן means they ttwist wool'; he who reads moe'roth means, they spin fax yarn, v. שזר. -- [מוזרת, מוזרות, v. זרי.] Pi. מור to weave over, cover with a web. Gen. R. s. 10 (ref. to מזרות, Job XXXVIII, 32) הפירות את שממור הוא מזל it is the planet that covers the fruits with webs (cmp. כימה).

מזרן, מיזרן m. (אזר) girth, strap of cloth which is wound over the bed to kcep the covering in position, Maim.; [Hai G. a. Ar.; (fr. מזר to spread under) a sort of carpet under the mattress; v., however, Tosef. quot. bel.]. -- Kel. XIX, 3 וכ׳ היוצא מ׳ a piece of the girth hanging from the bed. Ib. מ׳ שירי remnants of a torn girth. Ib. 4 המ׳ ועל .. ננרשא was carried (in his bed) by the bed and by the girth (the carriers holding the ends of the strap). Ib. 5, sq.; Tosef. ib. B. Mets. מחא II m. (preced.) whip. Targ. Nah. III, 2. מחאה f. (מחה) protest to prevent the claim of un- disturbed possession (v. חזקה). B. Bath. 38a, a. e. שלא מ׳ מ׳ הויא בפניו a protest (before witnesses) in the absence of the usurper is a legal protest (prevents the claim of undisturbed possession being recognized). Ib b דמי היכו וכ׳ מ׳ what is a legal protest? If he merely says, This man is a robber, it is not a legal protest.
