מטעמה m. (preced.) refreshment. Y. Snh. II, 20cbot. עטעמה אייתי (corr. acc.) bring refreshment (for the mour- ner) - [which may also mean good cheer, whence the reply; send and get Menahem &c.'].

מטעמיתה f. ch. =next w. Y. Ned. VIII, beg. 40d הדא מ׳וכ׳ the partaking of food for the sake of tasting requires no benediction, nor is it subject to laws about robbery &c.

מטפחת f. (b. h.; טפח II) towel, apron (for wiping moist hands); in gen. bandage, wrap. Tosef. Hag. III, 2 מטסחתו his apron; Hag. II, 7. Kel. XXIV, 14 ידים של (מ) towel, ספרים של bands for scrolls; תכריך של bands around shrouds; לוי בני נבלי ושל and the wraps of the musical instruments of the Levites (Maim.); (oth. vers. תכריך טל וכ׳ נבלי bands used for ttying up the instruments &c.). R. s. 83 quotes כמטרידא לעולם דהוה טרודא גברא, read; במ׳ לעי) a (busy) man, for all his life-time he worked with the hunting spear; Y. I ובסרדיתא במ׳ with hunting spear and with net; Targ. IChr. I, 50 ובסרדותא במטרדותא.
מטרונא, מטרונה f(matrona) matron.lady(mostly used of Roman women of quality). Gen. R. s. 41, beg., a. e., v. טולמיסין. Ib. s. 52 מ׳ עשאה he raised her to the rank of a lady (who is protected from the gaze of men, V. כסה II). Ex.
