מתרמרמותא f. (ימרם, Palp. of רום) subjectfor self- ) Mun, the fourteenth etter of the alphabet. It inter- changes with מ q. v.; with ל, q. v.; with ר, cmp. זרח a. דנח; שנים a. תרין; with י as preformative letter, cmp. יצב a. נצב. -נ־ frequently inserted, a) in place of Dagesh forte, e. g. מדעפמנדע; מדרו=מנדרון; - b) to avoid a hiatus, as אינהו, נינהו &c. --- ן, ן, גא-aformmative, e. g. גזלן, זלנאt . - ן, Nun emphaticum, as אודייתין = אורייתי; esp. epenthetic Nun between verb and suffix, e. g. בראון, Targ. נא II m. (also adverb) (b. h.; cmp. נע) 1) hurried, half. done. Pes. 41a bot. נא אכלו if he ate it (the Passover lamb) half-done. Ibb נא תאכל בבל ישנו is subject to the aw (Ex. XII, 9) &c. Tosef. Macc. IV (III), 1, contrad. to חי. Men. 78b נא מצה, v. הינא; a. fr. - 2) slender, fine, brittle. -- Pl. נאין; f. נאות. Tosef. Kel. B. Kam. II, 9 [read with R. S. to Kel. III, 2] והנאין הוסקו (==נאי והן) if the vessels were heated but turned out brittle. B. Bath, 97b (expl. פיטסות, ib. VI, 2) ומגופרות נאות thin, but lined with pitch; Tosef. ib. VI, 3.

נאדי m. (נדי, v. נוד) flying of. Sot. 45b דנ׳ רישא ונפיל it was the head (of the murdered man) that few off and fell (at a distance from the body). Ned. 16a הוה levation, .oject of contempt. Targ. Ps. XXקI, 7 (h. text בזוי, cmp. preced. w.).

נאה m.. נאה f. (b. h.;=נאוה, v. אות) suited, becoming; handsomme. Tanh. B'shnll. 11 וכ׳ שירה ׳ it is meet to sig unto the Lord. Sabb. 133b; Naz. 2b ׳ סוכה a handsommae Succah; a. fr. --Ib. I, 1, v. נוה. -- Pl. נאים, נאין; נאות. Sira. Ahare, end (ref. to Lev. XVIII, 26 אתם ושמרתם) נ׳ אתם וכ׳ שומרים you are the proper persons to guard them (the laws of chastity), because you opened (were the first to observe) them. Tanh. Mase 4 לארוכ ׳ הם ׳ ולבושיהם נ הם they are handsome, and their garments are becoming, they are suited to the land, and the land to them. Ned. IX, 10 וכ׳ אלא הן ׳ ישראל בנות the daughters of Israel are good-looking, but misery disfigures them. Sabb. l. c. Sifre Deut. 320 (ref. to Deut. Cant. 988 ובשבחו בנויתיו, read; בנויותיו, v. נוי. Treat. Sofa'rim III, 13 שלו בנאות היבות speak much of his excellencies. Lam. R.iintrod. end, v. קינה; a. fr. - נאה (adv.) becomingly, well. Tosef. Yeb. VIII, 4, a. e. דירש נ׳ preaches well, ונ׳ מקיים and acts in conformity (with his words).
נאה f. (b. h., v. preced.) marked off, distinguished place. -- Pl. constr. נאות. Deut. R. s. 7 end של דשאים בנ׳ באר in the grass-covered oases around the well.
נאה to be becoming &c., v. נאי.
נאוה m., נאוה f. (b. h.; preced. wds.) beautiful. Naz. I, 1 ׳ אהא Y. ed. (Mish. ed. נוה; Bab. ed. נאה) I will be good-looking (let my hair grow, a substitute for נזיר, v. עינוי). Cant. R. to I, 5 אבותי במעשה ו׳ and I am beauti- ful (worthy) through the deeds of my fathers; בפני ונ׳ קוני besutiful in the sight of my Master; במדבר אני ונ׳ and I proved worthy in the desert; a. fr.
