A. showed the index finger straight, i. e. the strap must reach from the arm to the tip of the index finger, when straightened, opp. כפוף (v. פשורא m., pl. פשורי 1)=h. פושרין, tepid (water). Targ. Koh. II, 8 ed. Lag. (ed. Vien. פשו׳; oth. ed. פוששרי). -- Hull. 46b; 47b. Ib. 84b דפשורים כסא some ed. (read; די. ., or רין . .); B. Mets. 29b דפושרין (some ed. דפשרין), v. חרשין; a. e. -2) (v. פישרא) rills formed by thaawing snoiw. Ab. Zar. 34b, v. עיקולא. Kidd. 73b וכ׳ בו יש סשרי (Rashi ג פושרי) if a child is found in shallow water formmed by melting snow (where no ship can pass), it is legally con- sidered a foundling.

*פשושא m. name of a bird. - Pl. פשושין. Lev. R. s. 22 מתכתשן פ׳ תרין חמא Ar. (Ar. s. v. כתש מכתשין) saw two pashoshin fight (ed. מתנציין ציפרין תרתין).
פשח (b. h. Pi.) to split, tear of, strip. Y. Yeb. XVI, 15a ופשחו . . . נתלה he suspended himself from a branch of an olive tree and ttore it off (for a weapon); Bab. ib. 122b; Tosef. ib. XIV, 10. -- [Tosef. Neg. V, 13 הנימין מן פשח, read with R. S. to Neg. XI, 10 פשה.] Nif. נפשח to be stripped, split. Shebi. 1V, 6 וכ׳ ש׳ אילן if a tree is split, you may tie it up in the Sabbatical yeat, not that it may grow together again, but that it may not split farther. Ikkts. III, 8; Tosef. Kel. B. Kam.I, 13; Hull. 128b, v. ערה II. Ib. 127b שירות ובו שנ׳ אילן if a tree is stripped, and on it (on the branch torn off) are fruits; a. e.

XI, 32; 39. - 2) (cmp. סרס Hif.) to part on's feet, to force one's self to stand still. Kidd. 81a לפלגא מטא אא דרגא (ד) when he arrived at half the ladder, he stemmed his feet. פשט (b. h.) 1) to stretch, straighten. Sabb. I I, sq. וכ׳ ידו את העני פ׳ if the recipient puts his hand forth to within (the house). Pes. 118b, a. e. שפושטין, v. פס II. Gen. R. s. 28 במצות ידיהם פשטו לא they (the Sodomites) never stretched their hands forth for good deeds (charity); Lam. R. to IV, 6; Yalk. Ez. 351. Ber. 3b; Snh. 16a פשטו לכו וכ׳, v. גדוד. Men. (the horn is straight,) intimating that they must straighten their hearts through repentance. -- Part. pass. פשוט, q. v. -- 2) to strip; (sub. בגדיו) to undress. Yoma III, 4; 6. Ib. 31b מקדש . .. פושט he (the high priest) undresses first and then sanctifies (washes his hands and feet). Ib. 32a וכ׳ אלא פושט אדם כלום can a man put off anyhing except what he has put on? Tam.
