William Crellin entered the Navy, 20 July, 1806, as Sec.-cl. Vol., on board the Colossus 74, Capts. Jas. Nicoll Morris and Thos. Alexander; and, on ultimately proceeding to the Mediterranean, there served, until Dec. 1814, in the Saturn 74, Capts. Edw. Griffith and John West. He next became attached, in the West Indies, to the Forester 16, Capt. Wm. Hendry, Rinaldo 10, Capt. John Undrell, and Shark 16, Capt. Alex. Campbell. Having acquired his present rank 25 Feb. 1815, he returned home in Feb. 1816 on board the Asia 74, Capt. Alex. Skene; and since that period has been on half-pay.
