SCOTT. (Commander, 1848.)

Robert Anthony Edward Scott entered the Navy 1 May, 1830; passed his examination 25 July, 1836; and on his return from the Pacific, where he had been serving as Mate in the President 50, flagship of Rear-Admiral Chas. Bayne Hodgson Ross, was promoted, 17 May, 1842, to the rank of Lieutenant. From 25 June, 1812, until 1847, he was again employed in the Pacific in the Salamander steam-sloop, Capt. Andrew Snape Hamond; and from 19 July in the latter year until advanced to his present rank 28 July, 1848, he officiated as First of the Vixen steam-sloop, Capts. Alfred Phillipps Ryder and Robt. Jenner, on the North America and West India station.
