Gloucester, created D.C.L. 12 April, 1749, summoned to parliament in the barony of Botetourt 13 April, 1764, a groom, 1763, and a lord, 1764, of the bedchamber, governor of Virginia (son of John Symes Berkeley, of Stoke Gifford, co. Gloucester), died s.p. 15 Oct., 1776.
