-nahr in nahrhaft, from MidHG. nar, OHG. nara, f., ‘rescue, maintaining, sustenance,’ To this is allied the derivative Nahrung, f., ‘nourishment, food,’ from MidHG. narunge, f., maintenance, nourishment’; allied to nähren.
