Brocke, Brocken, m., ‘crumb,’ from the equiv. MidHG. brocke, OHG. broccho, m.; Goth. *brukka, m., for which gabruka, f., occurs : formed by gradation from brechen (comp. Trotte from treten); derivatives bröckeln, bröckelig.
