Eule, f., ‘owl,’ from the equiv. MidHG. iule, iuwel, OHG. ûwila, f. Comp. Du. wil, AS. ûle (from *ûwle), E. owl, OIc. ugla, from pre-Teut. *uwwalô, or rather *uwwilô, ‘owl.’
