Galmei, m., ‘calamine,’ first occurs in early ModHG., with the older variant Kalmei; once in MidHG. kalemîne; from MidLat. and Rom.; comp. MidLat. lapis calaminaris, Fr. calamine; earlier Lat. cadmia, Gr. καδμεία, ‘calamine.’
