Geschoß, n., ‘shot, missile, dart,’ even MidHG. geschoȥ, OHG. giscoȥ, n., akin to schießen. So too Geschütz, ‘artillery, ordnance,’ even in MidHG. geschütze, n., ‘arms, weapons for shooting,’ occurs as a collective of Geschoß.
