Krämpe, f., ‘brim of a hat,’ ModHG. only, from LG. krempe, allied to the OHG. adj. chrampf, ‘curved’ (OIc. krappr, ‘close, narrow’); OHG. chrampf, quoted under Krampe, combines the meanings ‘hook’ and ‘border, brim.’
