Petersilie, f., ‘parsley,’ from MidHG. pêtersil, m., pêtersilje, m., OHG. pêtarsile; borrowed from MidLat. petrosilium (Gr. πετροσέλινον), ‘parsley.’ In the UpG. dials. a shortened form is found, Peterli, Peterle (Peterling).
