Reuse, f., ‘weir-basket, weel,’ from MidHG. riuse, OHG. rûsa, rûssa, f., ‘weel, fish-basket’ (from Goth. *rûsjô); a graded and lengthened form of Goth. raus (see Rohr). Hence Reuse means lit. ‘that which is made of reeds.’
