Riege, f., ‘row,’ from MidHG. rige, OHG. rī̆ga, f., ‘line, row’ (Goth. *riga, f., is wanting); allied to Reihe, OHG. rîhan, ‘to form in a row.’ From G. are derived Ital. riga, ‘line, strip,’ and rigoletto, ‘chain-dance.’
