Topas, m., ‘topaz,’ from the equiv. MidHG. topâȥe (topazîe), m.; derived, like most of the terms for precious stones, through a Lat. medium from Gr. Comp. Gr. τόπαζος, τοπάζιον, ‘topaz.’
