Zelte, m., ‘cake, tablet, lozenge,’ from the equiv. MidHG. zëlte, OHG. zëlto, m. Perhaps derived from the Teut. root teld, ‘to spread out’ (see the preceding word). Comp. Fladen for the meaning.
