nütze, adj., ‘useful,’ from MidHG. nütze, OHG. nuzzi, adj., ‘profitable’; Goth. un-nuts, ‘useless’; comp. AS. nytt, ‘useful.’ Allied to genießen, where other derivatives and cognates of the str. vb. are adduced.
