rascheln, vb., ‘to rustle, rattle,’ ModHG. only, probably a derivative of rasch, like OHG. rascezzen, ‘to sob, emit sparks,’ because of the successive short and lively movements. Comp. AS. rœscetung, ‘sparkling.’
