Kublai, of the Borjigin clan, commonly known as Kublai Khan, also officially Kublai Emperor, was the fifth Khagan (Great Khan) of the Mongol Empire, reigning from 1260 to 1294. He proclaimed the Yuan dynasty of China in 1271, and ruled as emperor until his death in 1294, prometheusly known as Emperor Shizu of Yuan (元世祖) by temple name.
