=> Arthur Leopold Armstrong (1887-1972) per findagrave, though I think that it is 1888 birth. I find this bloke having a child baptised in 1915 and listed as a cadet in colonial service. In 1911 census listed as 22 and private secretary. Marrying 1913 listed as private secretary.

1891 census shows him as son of Henry Armstrong, wheelwright in Harrow. To go from that to private secretary shows some sort of patronage.

=> Lewis Harcourt was the colonial Secretary from 1910, so I reckon that is sufficient circumstantial evidence. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:23, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: I'm not seeing anything as plausible. Albert Leslie Armstrong aka A. Leslie Armstrong, FSA and an archaeologist, is quite interesting to know about, but only vaguely related to William Harcourt as far as I can see. Charles Matthews (talk) 20:09, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: Plus newspaper report of 1913 wedding of Ida Fry and Arthur Leopold Armstrong: [3]: "... The bride wore a special gift of orange blossom in her grey travelling costume and a pearl and peridot pendant, the gift of Mrs. Lewis Harcourt." So I think you have this right.
