Marine specimens and Mr Robson

[edit]

Specimens of rare sea life were donated to the Colonial Museum by "Mr Robson" in 1875. No records found on Te Papa website however.

There are many C H Robson entries in Papers Past describing marine and other specimens as the subject of papers and donations to Museums. There was a lighthouse keeper called Charles H Robson at Manakau Heads but it is unclear whether this is C H Robson or C W Robson or simply another "C H Robson"

"The Chairman then read a paper on a “ New Giant Cuttlefish,' by Mr Robson, the llghthousekeeper at Cape Campbell." https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/NZTIM18860805.2.7

https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/NZTIM18740722.2.10 refers to C H Robson at Cape Campbell Lighthouse

https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/OAM18791229.2.17.3 Charles Hepburn Robson, lighthouse keeper at Moeraki. Lots of articles about lighthouse keeper C H Robson finding unusual fish, and he can be traced moving from one lighthouse to another. Concclusion that this is Charles Hepburn Robson.
