Name & authority for citing as author of i ching

Isn't this author usually rendered as Lao Tzu in English? As this is the English wikisource shouldn't we be using the most commonly accepted english translation. Also is the Tao te Ching the same as the i ching (as it is usually called in English) as I'd always believed the i ching was originally from around 2000BC. Wikipedia dates it as 2852 BCE-2738 BCE & cites the author as Fu Hsi. AllanHainey 15:05, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

To some degree you are right. Yet Lao Tzu is only a Wade- Giles translation mainly based upon the rendering of the sounds of the Chinese words in a way that is easier for English speakers to pronounce (such as Peking instead of Beijing), although many Chinese- such as myself, would argue that the traditional Pinyin rendering of the words is more accurate for English translations. Also to Mr. AllanHainey- I think you need to read my paragraph on the discussion page of Tao te Ching (Wikisource translation) to recognize that the I Ching and Tao te Ching WERE NOT THE SAME WORK and Lao Tzu was never the author of the former--Luthinya 16:24 29 January 2006
