At the author's preface, the residence of the author is given as Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Number of records for Minneapolis show Judd. 1885, 1895 and 1905 (all territorial and state census with lesser data) indicate birth c1855 and birth place of New York and Wisconsin. A couple show occupation and cite her occupation as teacher.
