Doesn't really help with the "mystery initial" but this site has a fairly clear image of said gentleman, along with a little more background on the Clements/Belford/Williams tension. MODCHK (talk) 08:09, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply


The middle name appears to be a mystery even to scholars: Schmidt (2001) writes: "The name designated by middle initial "W" is not revealed on his death certificate, marriage license, grave headstone, or in his existing military records". --Animalparty (talk) 20:51, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
