@Billinghurst: Birth/death date and other details of personal identification unknown. There seem to be a few William W. Nuttings who could possibly match this person, but very little info about each of them. The only thing I can say for sure is that a New York City affidavit from 1912 in his name definitely was the same person. PseudoSkull (talk) 02:23, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@PseudoSkull: I only see unuseful snippets of the work, so apart from it is a court case, nothing else. I can only find two William Nuttings in 1920 census, one in the restaurant trade from UK,a ged 37, and William Whitely Nutting. In 1910 census I am only seeing the second person. I am going to know more. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:29, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
If there are any useful snippets, you should be able to do a junk upload somewhere like phabricator. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:30, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: Mr. Nutting, who has illustrated the Tolstoy article, is an editor of one of the popular magazines, although holding a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, where he graduated four years ago. He very emphatically and modestly denies the accusation that he is an artist and unassumingly declares that his artistic work is just a hobby. "Oh, no, I don't earn my living at it," he said. "I couldn't. It's too much of a risk." But when the pressure becomes too great, occasionally, he draws a picture or rushes off to Europe on a cattle boat.
