News from Jersey City (1889)

Lindauer & Co., tobacconists in the Brooklyn Eagle of Brooklyn, New York City on June 1, 1889. Lindauer & Co., tobacconists appears to have been a front for the numbers game. August Mueller must have been a runner for the numbers game who collects the bets. In the Lexow Committee testimony, Charles Lindauer was named as a "small fry" with territory on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This article appears to show that they had territory in Jersey City as well.
