George W. Kinner, prominent citizen of Port Jefferson, Long Island, died at his home Wednesday morning. Mr. Kinner had been sick for about three months, ever since the death of his wife. Mr. Kinner Was 86 years of age and was a native of Middle Island, the son of Caleb Kinner. He saw active service in the battle of Petersburg, Virginia, where he was wounded and later had to have his foot and part of the right leg amputated. He entered the war in August, 1862, and was wounded July 11, 1864. After the war he returned to Port Jefferson and was married to Miss Julia A. Davis of Middle Island. Mr. Kinner was appointed postmaster at the Port Jefferson office and for 21 years he was one of the most efficient and obliging postmasters the office ever had. Main Funeral Saturday services will be held at his home on Main street Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Revs. A. M. Elliot and A. P. Corliss of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches respectively. The Lewis O. Conklin Post, G.A.R., will also take part in the funeral arrangements. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
