Thou of the wild impassioned brain
Who poured thy heart in bloody rain
And was by thine own passions slain
Oh who thy sorrow can compute
O'er all the bitter bitter fruit
Of instincts trampled underfoot
For there’s an angel sits above
Guarding the sanctities of love
That doth all levity reprove

Cold natures never can compute
The terrible lifelong dispute
Souls such as thine wage with the brute
And thus it is we often see
Good men all void of charity
For souls tossed on a raging sea
For here we have had all along
One standard measure for the weak and strong
And surely surely we are wrong
